“You scared the fuck out of me, Elena! Learn to knock like a human!” I yelled back. The audacity!

“Move it! I’m driving your sorry ass so you can get your dick wet, or at least get wasted.”

“Go away! I’ll be out in a second.” I glanced at the image still on my phone.Oh yeah.

“I know you’re jerking off.”

“Fuck you,” I spat and groaned. Now she ruined it.

Elena knew how to interrupt my fun time. And yet I, like the good roommate I was, put in earplugs and covered my head with a pillow when she had fun with Jen. And they wereloud. Their dirty talk was so revealing I even knew what kind of toys they used. I’d never seen them, but hearing “ram me with the dragon dick” at eleven in the evening created quite the visual. With a resigned grunt, I sprang off the bed and wrapped a blanket over my shoulderslike a cape, long enough to cover my flagging erection. I needed coffee.

I stomped into the living room to see Jen and Elena waving hands with excitement as they talked.

“That’s insane,” Elena said, waving with a carrot before she bit into it.

“I know!” Jen raised her voice in the best Monica-from-Friends impersonation I’d ever seen. “It’s like straight dudes telling everyone that ‘guys’ is a gender-neutral term, but when asked how many they fucked, they get offended. Look.” She pointed at me with her short fingernail. “Cayden! How many guys have you fucked? Or thought of fucking?”

What?I froze, tightening the blanket around myself. “I um…”Unscramble, brain! Dammit!A clear image popped into my mind of a naked Beck in a cape, his cock glistening with precum, and me on my knees, licking my lips… A shiver of excitement racked my body, and I released a slow breath to calm myself.

Jen and Elena exchanged a look, then raised eyebrows in unison.

“I haven’t fucked any!” I squeaked. “Men, I mean. Guys! You know.” I waved a hand in the air, lost the grip on my blanket, and scrambled to cover myself up.

“Are you okay?” Jen asked, directing me to the kitchen.

“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m just not ready for the date today, that’s all,” I explained, reaching into the jar full of K-cups to fish out my favorite vanilla-flavored one.

“Come on, Tai is the best matchmaker.” Jen crossed her arms, leaning a hip on the counter. “He introduced me to Elena nearly five years ago, and look at us. That says something, right?”

I nodded, positioning my Nightwing mug as I dropped the pod into the coffee machine. The whirr of the morning brew being made filled the kitchen, and I inhaled the aroma before I spoke again. “Yeah, but you two have something special. I’m a grown-ass man living with friends ’cause I can’t stand an empty house. And the thought of yet another girlfriend to add to the list of women I disappointed is depressing.”

“Hey, no talking shit about my friend,” Elena said, entering the kitchen.

“Who?” I asked.

“You.” Elena sucker-punched me in the arm before she reached for her Grogu mug.

“Ouch!” I yelped, barely managing to save my coffee from spilling. That hurt.

“Tough love.” Jen shrugged and kissed Elena’s cheek as she scooted closer. “Now finish the coffee so we can raid your closet.”

Thirty minutes and a whirlwind of clothes later, I stood in a maroon button-down and dark blue jeans. “Theshirt’s too tight.” I puffed my chest, making the buttons strain to hold the fabric closed.

“Don’t forget that I see you daily at the gym,” Elena said. “You punish your muscles like they stole your dog. Show off your hard work a bit.”

“Wait, what about the dog?” I asked, confused as fuck.

“She means you work out hard, and you can dress to accentuate that,” Jen translated, wrapping an arm around Elena’s slim waist. “One more thing.” She folded the sleeves of my shirt up to my elbows, then stood back, hands on her hips. “Yup, you’re ready to go. Alex is lovely, and she’s gonna drool at those forearms, trust me.”

“Like Maisie did at you the last time we saw her,” Elena quipped. “She says she’s straight, but I swear, I caught her ogling my ass so many times.”

Jen shrugged, reaching to straighten my collar. “You’re reading too much into it.”

“Good thing Tai set the other dude up with her, not you, Cay, or you might have ended up with another friend rather than getting laid.” Elena snort-laughed.

“You can appreciate how someone of the same sex looks without being attracted to them.”Right?I reached to the bottom of the closet and emerged with the box with my brown leather shoes.

“Of course you can,” Jen said in a voice higher than her normal tone.
