"Tell me you felt that," I said, bracing both hands on his desk and leaning in.

Mace lifted dark brown eyes to mine. "Of course, I did. I'm not immune to the fucking bond."

"I thought it would fade after all this time," Aiden muttered.

"Me too." I rubbed my chest where another burst of fear flared. "What the hell is happening to her?"

"She's probably having a baby or something. That's what a normal pack would do with an omega." Mace pursed his lips, looking back down at his screen.

"Mace. This isn't a baby. This is pain, real pain, and fear. She'd be at least a little excited if she was giving birth."

He sighed. "I don't know what to tell you, Finn. I don't know why she's hurting, but we're not her pack anymore. She's the responsibility of the new pack now."

"They're not helping her." Aiden sounded like he was about to cry himself. "We need to go find her. We might be the only ones who can help."

"We rejected her," Mace growled. "Do you really think she'll be happy to see you riding up like a knight in shining armor?"

"It doesn't matter. She's hurt. We need to find her." I spun on my heel. "Aiden."

Aiden followed close behind me as we left the office and we took the stairs to the parking garage, not wanting to wait for the elevator. We'd just reached the parking area when Mace strolled off the elevator.

"You coming?" I snapped.

"Yeah. You two will need my intel."

"What intel?"

"Where she is."

Aiden and I stared at our leader for a long moment. Then I spoke, "You know where she is?"

"I had a tracking device put in her arm after her first heat." He took a deep breath and held up his phone, which had a map and a flashing dot on it. "I guess she never got rid of it."

"She knew about it?"

He nodded. "It was right when we were starting to get more investors. I told her it would be useful if anyone decided to use her as a hostage or hold her for ransom."

I blinked at him. "Fuck, you're ruthless, aren't you?"

He frowned. "I was protecting our asset."

"Before you decided to throw her away like a piece of trash."

"Do you want to find her or not? I'm estimating at least a three hour drive."

"Fuck."

We took my SUV since it was more comfortable and I drove, with Mace insisting on being in the front seat. That left Aiden to sit in the middle of the back seat, leaning in to watch the blinking dot on the screen. "Where is that?"

"Across the border and half a state away," Mace responded.

Aiden and I exchanged looks. She was too far to reach in time if she was badly wounded, but we had to try. I focused on sending calming vibes through the bond, but it didn't seem like she could feel them.

"This never should have happened." Rage boiled in my veins. "That woman meant more to us than the business."

"You think I don't know that?" Mace gritted out. "We've already hashed this out a million times, Finn."

"Not the time." Aiden gave me a look. "Let's get her first."
