Hunter pulled her into his arms. She clung to him, trembling, her breath ragged.

Leigh hurried out of the bedroom, rushing to her sister's side.

Hunter moved, letting Annie's sister sit beside her, and grabbed Baker by the arm.He guided him out of the room and shut the door, giving them privacy.

"What the hell?"Hunter slapped Baker on the chest.

Baker pulled his beard down, speaking slowly and clearly."Sorry, brother.Didn't think."

Hunter exhaled harshly, still hyped from being woken from a deep sleep, and motioned Baker to talk.

"Cruz spotted a cruiser."Baker circled his finger in the air and held up three fingers."Been around the property three times."

Hunter's stomach dropped.

Kodiak stepped out of the office, already pulling on his vest.He turned toward Hunter, speaking slowly."Get the girls. You're riding out now."

Hunter stepped forward."What about hiding them?"

Kodiak shook his head."Better to slip out now.You and Baddy hit the road. We'll help. You can..."

He shook his head, motioning for Kodiak to turn back around.

"Use the darkness, brother," said Kodiak.

Hunter nodded once.

"Baddy's on his way," Kodiak added.

Hunter turned back toward the room and ran his hand down his face."I'll get the girls."

They were moving. He swallowed hard.He thought he had another day with Annie.

Baker approached him, slapping his shoulder, and continued down the hallway. The Royalla members would help them slip out of the clubhouse unnoticed.

He returned to the room.Annie ran straight to him and threw her arms around his waist. He cupped the back of her head.

"We need to leave," he said.

She straightened and looked up at him."Now?"

"Now."

Leigh rushed into the bedroom. He couldn't hold their hands. They needed to realize they only had one chance to get out of Vancouver.

Jason Stevens wasn't going to go away.He would find a way to get a search warrant and return to the clubhouse.None of the members would hand over their freedom.Things could get ugly.
