“My bad. It’s a reflex. I don’t like people touching me in my face. What’s good?” Blak attempted to correct the situation.
Just that fast, Naomi’s feelings were no longer hurt, and she walked into his personal space. “Well, I’m about to be your wife, and I like to touch. Real bad.” She pressed her body into his and to his surprise, his dick didn’t stiffen. That was a big red flag for Blak.
“Word?” he licked his lips and attempted to flirt. “Guess I gotta get used to it then.” It took every ounce of restraint that he had not to look in Averi’s direction. He drove to the club, and Naomi rode with him. He’d be less than a man to put her in a rideshare or suggest she find another ride home, so he could get at Averi. He was tempted, however.
They had been getting to know one another and from the way she’d been flirting with him and drinking, he knew it was the night that Naomi expected them to have sex. New pussy didn’t sound too bad to Blak but in the moment, he wanted Averi’s pussy. He had a lifetime to have sex with Naomi. If Averi stood on business the next time would be his last time getting it. He wanted to hit her with long deep strokes while telling her that leaving him alone wasn’t an option. She’d just have to share with Naomi. In a perfect world, they’d be sister wives.
After going over several scenarios in his mind, Blak knew there was no way to ditch Naomi without looking flaw as fuck. He had to take her home and if he didn’t stay, it would look suspect. Blak was craving Averi. He wanted to inhale her scent while he stroked her walls and suck on her tongue while he erupted inside of her. Once they both got tested, Blak stopped using condoms with Averi. She was the only female that he would dare slide up in raw. Blak didn’t trust shit. He knew a fine ass chick named Monique with a sick body and a bad assPerc habit. Most times, she paid for the pills cash, but she was spending around $120 a day on either Percs or Xanax.
When she didn’t have the money, she’d ask the guy serving her if she could get credit. Unlike a lot of addicts, she never offered her pussy as a form of payment. Shorty would rather pay for her pills than to fuck for them. Guys were getting to the point where they were telling her she could clear her tab by giving up pussy. She kept her hair, nails, and lashes done. Her pill habit was extensive, but she was still a bad chick. She made Blak realize that some of the prettiest females with the nicest bodies could have some shit with them. He wasn’t going up in anything raw unless he knew for a fact it was clean and that she wasn’t a sack chasing bitch or an addict that slept with any man that could feed her habit.
If he couldn’t have Averi for the night, he didn’t want to keep being tempted by her presence. “You ready to go?” he asked Naomi since she was determined not to leave his personal space.
“Yeah. We might as well leave before the club closes and everyone else starts to leave.”
Blak gave a curt nod before taking another large swig of the champagne. He had damn near drank the whole bottle, but there were still a few swallows left. He had a high tolerance, so he knew he was okay to drive. In the event that Blak didn’t feel comfortable to drive, his homie Yusef had his back. After he set the champagne down, Blak signaled to the bottle girl that he was ready to close out his tab, and he let Jug know that he was ready to leave. Jug was his eyes and ears and would lay a nigga down for looking at Blak too hard.
After closing out his tab and tipping the cocktail waitress generously, Blak protectively ushered Naomi through the club with his hand resting on the small of her back. She was going to be directly associated with him. Anyone that engaged in a certain kind of lifestyle would need to be smart enough to knowthat she was off limits. From the moment he agreed to marry her, it was no longer just her father’s responsibility to ensure that Naomi was good.
Her steps halted, and Blak felt his irritation budding as she stopped to smile and hug a tall female. Blak attempted to wait patiently as pleasantries were exchanged. While checking his immediate surroundings, his gaze zeroed in on Averi. All he could see was stark white teeth as she grinned. Some lame ass nigga was standing in front of her leaning forward and speaking into her ear. Blak had no clue who the man was, but he wasn’t him, so the muhfucka was lame. His molars gritted as he watched Averi grin as if whatever ole buddy was telling her was the best thing she’d heard all night.
Flicking the tip of his nose, Blak was two seconds away from gently inching Naomi forward, however, she moved on her own. The couple brushed past Averi and her suitor and trekked toward the club’s exit. He never asked Averi if she was dealing with anyone else while they were messing around. In a way, he didn’t care. Or at least, he had succeeded in convincing himself that he didn’t care. Seeing her so excited to have the next man in her personal space caused heat to radiate through Blak’s core.
In the car, he attempted to focus on the music playing while drowning out Naomi’s chatter as she gossiped on the phone with her friend about the females she saw in the club, who was fly, and who looked a hot mess. Blak knew it was women like her that kept all a nigga’s business in the streets. Women conversed about what man was sexing what woman, what he bought her, places that he took her, how many side chicks got beat up by wives, and baby mamas. It was a ghetto soap opera at its’ best. Naomi was plugged in, and she had taken it a step further than most local gossipers. She knew some of the wives, girlfriends, baby mamas, and side chicks of the elite. Pro athletes. Rappers. Producers. She was deep into that shit, and all Blak could do wasshake his head. He’d never been that invested in who the next man was laying pipe to.
That night was his first time going to Naomi’s home, and it was nice just like he knew it would be. With the father she had, he didn’t expect anything less. The home looked to have three to four bedrooms. It was large and spacious, but it wasn’t entirely too much for someone to live in alone. Blak knew the home they eventually moved into as husband and wife would have to be grand, but he didn’t mind. His paper was long, and shorty should live the way she was accustomed to. So far, she seemed cool, and Blak prayed that it would remain that way. It wasn’t hard to have boundaries and rules with your significant other, but they weren’t in love. No, he wouldn’t embarrass her, but he didn’t want to have to be with her and only her when he didn’t have any kind of feelings toward her.
Blak got comfortable on her grey sectional and smoked a blunt while she showered and changed clothes. Blak’s eyes shot over to the coffee table where he’d placed two of his three phones. Staring at them, he contemplated calling Averi.
“What the fuck?” he mumbled and kissed his teeth.
He was at the crib with a baddie and focused on Averi. That was new. What was even newer was the fact that twenty minutes later, Naomi was sucking him off with the skills of a porn star, and his dick was still flaccid. Blak was annoyed with his damn self if for no other reason than not making a good impression the first time he had sex with his fiancée. Blak was on the verge of being embarrassed. The situation was throwing him for a loop, but it had to be because of Averi. His jaw muscles flexed as he pictured her being friendly with the guy in the club.
Visions of him stroking her savagely while his hand was wrapped around her neck had his dick growing in Naomi’s mouth. Closing his eyes, Blak moaned as past sexual encounterswith Averi ran through his mind. If this was how it was going to be, Blak knew he was in trouble.
“Oh my God, that nigga Blak is too fine!” Averi’s best friend’s little cousin, exclaimed from the backseat making Averi roll her eyes.
She had never been thirsty enough to make it known to people who she entertained in the bedroom. Blak wasn’t her man, and she didn’t go out of her way to make it known that she was on any man’s roster. Sexing a fine, rich nigga did nothing to boost her self-esteem. Averi couldn’t care less what the average chick in the streets thought about her.
The cousin knew about her and Blak however, because one day, Averi, her best friend, Vesha, and Vesha’s cousin, Lisara were on the strip. It was jumping out that day. A local all girls’ car club, The Hellcat Barbies were out, and the niggas were gathered in abundance. One of Averi’s classmates had come over and spoken to her, and the moment he walked off, Blak was in her face questioning her. At that point, they’d been messing around for five months, and it was the only time he’d ever acted possessive. Averi was stunned and aroused as he stood there with a frown asking her why that nigga was all in her face. He was so far in her face, they were damn near kissing, and Lisara’s nosey ass was definitely looking.
By the time he walked off, it was no longer a secret that she had some kind of dealings with him. Averi refused to talk about it or give details because she knew Lisara would have her business all over Diamond Cove. She was such a groupie that she talked about Averi fucking Blak for a good ten minutes. Averi knew without a shadow of a doubt that if Lisara had a chancewith Blak, she’d fold like a lawn chair. She was so male-centered it was sickening. Even Vesha constantly told her she needed to get something on her mind besides men.
“How did you let Naomi snatch his fine ass? The fact that they’re getting married has me gagged.”
Averi chuckled. If she was bitter or cared what Lisara thought, she’d reveal the fact that the marriage wasn’t real, but she refused to do that. “Naomi didn’t snatch anything from me, Baby Girl. Blak is the average man. We had our fun, but we weren’t serious enough for me to ask or care about what he was doing.”
“Period.” Vesha co-signed. “Naomi can have those problems because I doubt he’ll be faithful. You see how he kept staring at you?”
“Not really,” she replied honestly. “I wasn’t paying attention to Blak.”
For a split second, she felt a surge of jealousy when Naomi tried to grip Blak’s chin, but the way he snatched away reminded her that he didn’t care about her. Even so, that was just a reminder that he’d never be able to love her out loud even if she wanted him to, and that was a hard no for her. Blak was cool, and she’d miss him for sure. But playing herself for a man wasn’t in her DNA. God didn’t stop making men when he made Blak. And even if she didn’t find another man life would go on.
“Girl, Rashad done got fine as hell,” Vesha who was driving glanced over at her friend. They had gone to school with Rashad and while he’d never been ugly, he’d never been anyone that the girls fawned over.
However, he’d put on about fifteen pounds of muscle, sprouted a thick beard, and his copper-colored skin was flawless. He was giving real grown man vibes and looking at Averi like he wanted to eat her alive.
“He really did,” she marveled. “And he doesn’t have any kids. I didn’t even know he’d moved to Maryland, but he said he just moved back. I’ll see what he’s talking about, but I don’t have high hopes.” She had given him her number just because she was single and open to dating, but her generation didn’t give happily ever after vibes. Everyone wanted to be around for a good time and not a long time.
