“Two first class flights will be $1,045.”

“Bet.”

Block removed the phone from his ear and sent her $2,500.

“Nasir.”

“Symphony.”

The way he said her name made Symphony’s kitty thump despite the fact that she was a little perturbed by hearing a woman call him bae. However, he didn’t put her off or dismiss her, so it was really none of her business.

“I’ll book the hotel later. I’m about to run out and take Mason to the mall.”

When Block found himself not wanting to get off the phone with her, he knew he was getting in deep. He didn’t even carethat it was rude. He was going to chill out though. “Aight. Have a good day.”

“You too.”

Block ended the call and sat up. He had a good mind to leave since Ebony wanted to be on some funny shit. She entered the room with a sheepish grin on her face, and he glared at her.

“You didn’t tell me if you wanted any food, so I just ordered pizza and wings.”

“Who you talking to?”

Ebony frowned. “What you mean, who am I talking to? You.”

“Oh I didn’t think so because you didn’t say bae.”

Her face reddened. “It just slipped out.”

“Yeah, I’m sure it did,” he replied sarcastically.

“I don’t want no smoke,” she held her hands up in surrender.

“I know you don’t. Watch that shit.” There was warning in his tone, and that was the last one he was going to give her. He stood. “I’m out.”

Ebony’s heart thudded in her chest. She didn’t want him to leave. “I thought you were going to stay for a little while.”

“I was.” He wanted to know her actions had run him off early. “I’ll see you tonight.”

Block didn’t like playing games. Ebony knew exactly what she was doing when she called him bae. That day was his fourth time ever seeing her in his life. It was way too soon for her to be acting out. That was one of the reasons he liked mature women. Once she made it back to Miami, he probably wouldn’t be answering the phone for her anymore. If it was one thing he didn’t have time for it was bullshit.

Inside his Range Rover, Block pushed out a deep sigh. He had a few plays to make, and then he wanted to go check on Blak and make sure he wasn’t back in crash out mode. Since Averi got shot and disappeared on him, Blak hadn’t been in the mood for anything. He didn’t even want anyone looking at him. Hisattitude was on a thousand, and Block knew it was a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. He didn’t have to worry about Mario for a little bit because he meant what he said to him that day in the car. Block wasn’t stressing himself over anyone, he didn’t give a fuck who it was. He tried many times to teach Mario to be better than him and Tech. If he refused to listen that’s what it was.

Block didn’t want to wait for his father to come home from prison to be in selfish mode. He was ready at that very moment.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

When Giavanna openedthe door for Brazil, she didn’t miss how his brows hiked. She knew she looked like shit, but she didn’t know that it was so obvious to other people. “You good?” he inquired.

“Yes and no. I’m not contagious. I went to Urgent Care this morning. I have an upper respiratory infection.”

“Who watched Unique while you were at the doctor?”

“My mom.”

“I was just asking to see if you have a support system. If you’re not feeling better when it’s time for me to bring her back, I can keep her some extra days. My mom will help me.”

“I’m hoping I’ll be better before she comes back but if not, I’ll definitely let you know. All I plan to do while she’s gone is sleep and deep clean when I feel up to it.”
