A familiar large palm smooths down the curve of myskull, while gripping my hip. “I missed you too, sunshine. Look at me.”
My blue eyes meet his green ones.
“I want to date you, Calla Becker. To be with you.”
My heart skips inside my chest. “What are you asking me?”
“Will you be my girlfriend? For real this time. Say yes, Calla.”
Rising onto my tiptoes, I capture Blake’s lips with mine, tangling our tongues together. “Of course I will. I love you. I’m sorry it’s taken us this long to get to this point.”
“No more sorry’s, remember.” Blake nudges his nose with mine, his hands wandering down to squeeze my arse. Behind us, I hear my friends cheer and whistle.
“Ignore them,” I mutter against his lips.
“Say it again.”
“I love you, Blake.”
“I love you too, sunshine.”
Chapter 30
Calla
Wiping the thin layer of sweat from my forehead with the back of my hand, I gulp back the bottle of water in my hand, swallowing it in one. My cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling all day, my voice is raw from singing along to the music played by the DJ and my feet ache from dancing, even though I took off my heels and kicked them away hours ago.
Most of the wedding party has slipped upstairs to their bedrooms, calling it an evening, or should I say early morning. But Shelby and I are determined to be the last ones on the dance floor.
I smile as I feel two large hands wrap around the ladder of my ribcage, pulling me backwards into the solid feel of his hard body.
“Dance with me, Calla.”
Blake and I dance like fools, just as we had the first night we met, until the DJ finally announces the last song of the night.
As the slow love ballad begins to croon over the speakers, Blake scoops me up into his arms, placing a sweet kiss to thecurve of my neck when I bend my head to rest my cheek on his shoulder.
“One day, that’s going to be us.”
I glance upwards to see what he’s talking about, finding Carmen and Jake, still sitting at the top of their wedding table, holding hands and singing to each other.
“Promise?”
“Promise, sunshine.”
I slowly graze my mouth against Blake’s. I don’t mean for it to become anything, but Blake obviously has other ideas when he nibbles on my plush bottom lip before he tips his head to one side and begins to devour me whole.
“Can I take you upstairs, Calla?”
I press my hips to his, feeling the heavy bulge of his cock against my lower stomach. “Please.”
Blake grabs my hand, tucking me into his side and leading us across the empty dance floor to the top table.
I launch myself at Carmen, wrapping her up firmly in a hug.
“Congratulations,” I sniff, blinking back a fresh surge of happy tears. “I hope today has been everything you’ve ever wished for, because you deserve it.”
“It’s been everything and more.” My best friend pulls back to stare into my face, her eyes just as watery as mine. “Here.” She picks up her bouquet full of pink and white anemones. I can still recall how many white wine nights it took for Carmen to pick which flowers she wanted. There’s no doubt in my mind that she made the perfect choice. “Take them.”
