I see the reflections of the stars and moon stretching on into the endless darkness. I see our reflections wobbling as the slight movement of our bodies disrupts the glassy surface.
“Infinity,” I whisper. “And us.”
“That’s what I see too.” He puts his fingers under my chin. “Kian, I—”
Whatever he wants to say, I can wait for as long as it takes. So I hold him, stare into his eyes, and wait.
Chapter25
Jett
Kian’s eyes overflow with love. A soft smile makes his pale green eyes radiant under the starlit sky. The sight of him takes my breath away. My heart flutters like a butterfly taking its first flight after freeing itself from its chrysalis. Perhaps that’s exactly what I am. I’d locked myself away in a cocoon of fear, anger, and doubt. But Kian has helped me escape it. I know, deep in my soul, that I will never find anyone else who makes me as happy as he does. I have to stop being afraid. I have to trust him. I do trust him.
“I love you.” I cup his cheeks and kiss him. “I love you. I love you. I love you.” The phrase pours out of me like a river that’s finally burst its dam. What I feel for him is an unstoppable force I want to be swept away in. I cling to him, kissing him, telling him I love him, and kissing him again. Then I stop and stare at him. “Say something.”
He laughs. “You didn’t give me a chance to speak. Not that I was complaining. I love you.” He presses his lips together, and his chin quivers.
My heart leaps. “Are you okay?”
“Yes. I didn’t realise how much I needed to hear you say that.” He rubs his chest over his heart. “Or how much it would hit me here. Am I making any sense?”
“Yes. I’d move mountains for you, Kian.”
His grin returns, as do his gorgeous dimples. “That’s good to know. Likewise, obviously.” He traces his knuckles over my jaw. “I am hopelessly in love with you, Jett Harris.”
I catch his hand and hold it against my face. “I know. I’m sorry it took me so long to be able to say it back.”
“There’s no need to apologise.”
“I felt it. I was just scared.”
“I know. It’s fine, Jett. I swear it is. I don’t need more from you than what you can give. I just love being with you.”
“How did I get so lucky?”
Kian shrugs, the water rippling around him. “By being you.”
“Kian.”
“Yes?”
“I want to give you everything.”
He blinks slowly. “Everything?”
“My heart.” I press his palm to my chest. “My body.” Keeping his hand in place, I kiss him, slow and soft.
“You’ve already done that,” he whispers.
“No, I haven’t. I want you to make love to me tonight, Kian. I want you to top me.”
He widens his eyes.
“I’ve been using the training plugs. I’m ready.”
Kian bites his lower lip. “I’d love to.” Pink radiates across his cheeks and nose.
“Let’s go back to our room.”
