“Yeah?” The top of his lip is sweaty and salty.

“Yes.” My eyebrows tug together. “Did you like it?”

“Fuck, yes.” He kisses my back. “Thank you.”

I chuckle. “I didn’t do much except lie here.”

“You were patient. You let me find my way in my own time.”

I kiss his hand. “I always will.”

“You’re a great teacher.”

“I’m glad you think so.”

He presses his forehead against my nape. “I know it’s not sex, but could we do it again?”

“Now?”

He laughs and swats his hand over my back. “Not now, you eejit! I’m knackered.”

“Me too. For the record, it was sex.”

“I’m not sure—”

“It was. Sex doesn’t just have to be anal.”

His chest freezes. He must be holding his breath. “Maybe we could try that at some point. With me…you know…”

“Topping me?”

He nods against me.

“When and if you’re ready. There’s no rush, Cal. None at all.”

“I know. Thank you.”

His chest relaxes, and his warm breath blankets my skin. “Listen.”

“All I hear is our heartbeats.”

“Exactly. Although I reckon Aidan will be screaming for food soon.”

“Probably. Is it time to get up?”

He nods. “Maybe in a few more minutes.”

I close my eyes and enjoy being close to him. God, I love him.

I’m almost asleep when the sound of a phone disturbs me.

“Sorry,” Cal says, rolling away. “It’s mine. I should have put it on silence.”

I turn around so I can see him. He retrieves his phone from his pile of clothes and sits on the edge of the bed.

“Is everything okay?” I ask.

“It’s Niamh. She wants to see us. Not at her bedsit but a café close by.” He looks over his shoulder at me. “What do you think that means?”
