He brushed his fingertips over my lips. “I know. But even so, moving in together would be a huge step.”

“You’re living here right now.”

“Only sort of.”

“Move into my room.”

Jae’s eyes went wide.

“You’re already sleeping in my bed.”

“True.”

“You’re here for two more weeks, right?”

Jae nodded.

“So move into my room. Put your stuff in my bathroom, your clothes in my wardrobe and drawers. We’ll go shopping together and get all your favourite things to fill the cupboards, fridge, and freezer. You can pick a potted plant or some pictures to go on the wall.”

Jae pressed his fingers to my lips. “We don’t have to do any of that. I don’t want to turn your life upside down, Xander.”

I gently held his wrist and pulled his fingers from my lips so I could speak. “You turned my life upside down when you stepped off that train, Jae. I fell for you the moment I saw you struggling with your suitcase and make-up case. You’re amazing. I’ve loved every second of you being here. You’re the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time. Move into my room. Think about moving in with me instead of leaving in two weeks. Please?”

Jae’s chin trembled. “It’s kinda hard to say no when you talk like that.”

“Then say yes.”

He nodded hesitantly. “I’ll move into your room. But you might regret asking me to.”

“Why?”

“I have alotof bathroom stuff.”

I laughed. “That’s okay.”

“I’ll end up taking over.”

“That’s okay too.”

Jae narrowed his eyes. “You say that now.”

I cupped his cheek. “Jae.”

“Yes?”

“I’ll still be saying it a week from now. And two weeks from now. And maybe, hopefully, a month from now.”

He blushed.

“If you did stay, what would you miss the most?”

“Dillon.” Jae grimaced. “That sounds awful, doesn’t it? I’d miss my parents, of course, but I’m more than ready to move out. I love them, but their refusal to believe in me and my dream is weighing me down, you know?”

“I do know.”

“I’m sorry.”

I shrugged. “My parents know where I am and how to get hold of me. When they’re ready to admit they were wrong, I’ll let them back into my life.”
