He cackled. “How about we draw each other.”

“Umm, did you miss the part where I said I couldn’t draw?”

“Did you miss the part where I said I couldn’t either?” He waved his chalk. “Draw me.”

He stepped up to the blackboard and, shielding it with his willowy body, began to draw. I shrugged and followed his lead. I stood with my back angled to him and drew a stickman version of Jae. I tried to draw wavy hair and long eyelashes. On a whim, I drew him in heels. I wasn’t sure why. I hadn’t seen him wear them, but I was sure he’d look gorgeous in a pair of stilettos.

“Done.” I stepped back, wiped the chalk dust on my jeans, and admired my terrible drawing.

“Me too.” Jae joined me, and we stared at the blackboard.

Jae’s drawing was about as impressive as mine. He’d drawn me as a stickman with circles for my muscles and a semi-circle smile.

“Are my eyes that tiny?” I asked, trying not to laugh.

“Are my eyelashes that long?”

We laughed and nudged each other’s shoulders.

“I love the heels,” Jae said.

“Do you wear them?”

“Sometimes. Generally on a night out.” Jae lowered his chin. “Sometimes I wear dresses. Would…would you still go out with me if I wore a dress and heels?”

“Why wouldn’t I?”

He shrugged.

“I think you’d look hot in a dress.” I had a mental image of Jae in a little black dress and red high heels. It was sexy.

Jae lifted his chin and grinned. “We should draw Dillon next. We can take photos and send them to him to judge.”

“All right.”

We each picked a new patch of blackboard and drew my brother. This time, I tried to draw a person rather than a stick figure, but it looked like something Picasso might have doodled when he was three. Jae’s drawing of Dillon looked a lot like me, only shorter and with spikier hair and thicker eyebrows. The smile was even bigger.

When we’d finished, Jae took a photo of them and sent them to Dillon. Then he took a selfie of himself against the blackboard.

“What’s that for?” I asked.

“Instagram. I don’t have as many followers as you, but I try to post pictures regularly.”

I put my arm around his waist. “One day, you’ll have trillions of followers.”

“I doubt it.”

“Trillions and gazillions.”

“I’ll settle for a thousand right now.” He waved his phone. “The verdict is in.” He showed me the reply from Dillon.

Dillon:Where are you? It looks fun. Are they meant to be pictures of me? Don’t give up your day jobs. I’ll go with number one. Who drew it?

“Aww, you win,” Jae said as he typed a reply to Dillon.

Jae:It’s called The Doodle Bar. That was Xander’s drawing. I’m hurt. Hurt, I tell you.

Dillon:Well, if I’d known whose was whose, I’d have picked yours.
