“I think Dillon does too.”

“Yup,” I agreed. “Except, unlike us, Dillon doesn’t know what he wants to do. I think that’s why he lets Mum and Dad badger him into applying for jobs he doesn’t want.”

“Probably.”

“Our parents suck.”

“They love us,” Jae said in an almost hopeful tone. “It’s why they’re hard on us.”

“Yeah. Maybe.” I glowered. “But screw them. I’m successful, and you will be too. And when Dillon figures out what he wants to do, he’ll be successful as well. Not because of our parents but despite them. We’ll show them we’re not wasting our time.”

Jae straightened his back. “We will show them.” His eyes sparkled. “But first, more kissing.”

I clasped my hands over the small of his back. “I like the way you think.”

CHAPTERELEVEN

JAE

I was momentarily confused, waking up snuggled in the arms of someone big and strong. I smiled as I remembered making out with Xander. There had been a lot of kissing. So much, we must have fallen asleep midway through. During the night, we’d ended up spooning with the quilt half pulled over us. Thankfully, Xander had a big sofa, just the right size for us to cuddle.

“Morning.” He kissed my neck.

“How long have you been awake?”

“A few minutes. I need to get up and do my stream soon.”

“I think you’re already up.” I wriggled against his morning wood. Seeing him naked on True Fans hadn’t prepared me for how big his erection would feel when pressed against me.

He barked out a laugh. “Part of me is. Sorry.” He started to roll onto his back.

I caught hold of his arm. “Don’t be.” I tugged his arm tighter around me and let out a contented smile. “I’m glad this doesn’t feel weird.”

“What?”

“Waking up in your arms.”

“Did you expect it to?”

I shrugged. “It might have done.”

“We’ve known each other for years.”

“Yeah, and that could have made this”—I gestured at us—“weird.”

“I guess it could have done.”

I twisted so I could kiss Xander’s lips. It was awkward but sweet. Our tongues briefly crossed and caressed before I had to break the kiss and return to my original position.

“Sleeping in our clothes wasn’t a good idea.” I pinched my shirt and yanked it up so I could smell the fabric. “Yuck.”

“Well, I’m about to get all hot and sweaty, and then I’ll be taking a shower.” Xander walked his fingers over my shoulder. “You could join me…”

“For which part?”

“I meant the shower. But if you want to be a guest star in my morning workout, I wouldn’t object.”

I shook my head. “No thanks. You’d make me look unfit. I’ll stay here and watch you do all the hard work.”
