“No.”
“I don’t know what I’m doing, Beau. What if I fuck up and hurt him?”
Beau gives me a stern look. “You won’t.”
“How do you know that?”
“Because you care too much.”
I sigh. I’m not sure how caring about Quinn will result in me not making a mess of things. “I get the feeling that someone has made Quinn feel like a boring burden in the past. I don’t want him to feel like that.”
“Then don’t treat him like he is.”
I laugh. “You make it sound simple.”
“That’s because it is. Show how much he and the things you do together fascinate you. Assuming they do?”
“Of course. Only, what if I keep getting it wrong like I did with the train trip?”
“So what if you do? As long as you roll with it and adapt, you’ll both have fun. You’re not going to get it right all the time. Fraser and I have done things that didn’t work out. We figured it out on the fly and turned failure into something positive and wonderful. You and Quinn will do the same.”
“I hope so.”
“I know so.” Beau stifles a yawn with his hand.
“You need to sleep.”
“Yes, boss.” He swirls his hot chocolate in the mug and then downs it. “Relax, Stefan. Enjoy getting to know Quinn better. You’ve been drooling over him for long enough.”
“I have not.”
“You have,” Beau sing-songs. “You’ve liked him since the day he moved in.” He stands and rinses his mug. “He’s a sweet guy. I hope things work out for the two of you.” He dries the mug and puts it away. “Who knows? Maybe we could have a double wedding.”
I laugh. “I think we’re a long way off that. At the speed you and Fraser move, you’ll be married in the blink of an eye.”
“Maybe. Maybe not. We’re good with how things are right now.” He looks around the room. “I’m guessing everyone will expect us to move out when we tie the knot.”
I stiffen. “Why would you have to?”
Beau shrugs. “I guess we wouldn’t.”
“But you’d want to?”
Beau locks gazes with me. “We will, eventually.” He yawns again. “I’m going to bed.”
“Good.”
He squeezes my shoulder as he walks past. “You’ve got this, Stefan. You’re a great Dom and a fantastic brother. I know you’ll make an amazing partner too.”
“Thanks for the vote of confidence.”
“Well, I am your biggest fan. Always have been, always will be.”
My eyes tear up a little. “Ditto.”
I listen to him leave. I should go to bed too, but I can’t bring myself to move. Not long later, I hear soft footsteps coming up behind me and then a pair of comforting arms loop around my shoulders.
Quinn kisses my temple. “Did you and Beau sort things out?”
