Quinn nods.
“No, not a dream.”
“Good.” He gestures to his head. “Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between dreams and reality.”
I stay quiet while contemplating how difficult that must be to cope with.
“Did it freak you out?” he asks.
I frown.
“I think that’s the worst cataplexy attack I’ve had in front of you.”
I kiss his forehead. “No, it didn’t freak me out. It might have if you hadn’t warned me, but you did. Thank you for telling me.”
“I need to take my medication.” Quinn walks his fingers up my chest to touch my chin. “Then we should talk.”
“About?” My chest becomes cold, like someone is running an ice cube over my skin.
“Kinky stuff.” He runs his finger over my lower lip. “Unless you’ve changed your mind about knowing what my kinks are.”
I nip playfully at his finger. “I haven’t.”
“And I’ll need to know yours.”
“That’s a long list.”
Quinn stares at me for a moment and then sighs. “Of course. Pro-Dom. I bet there’s not much you won’t do.”
“Take your medication, and then we can talk.”
He gets out of bed, grabs a clean pair of boxer shorts out of his chest of drawers, puts them on, and then goes into the bathroom. I glance at my discarded clothing while I wait for him but don’t move to get dressed.
Quinn comes back a couple of minutes later, kissing me before sitting cross-legged on the bed. “Is there anything you won’t do? Any hard limits?”
I purse my lips. “I tend to avoid blood and scat play. There are health risks associated with both.”
“But you’ve done both?”
“Yes. Charles was a very thorough teacher.”
Quinn’s eyes widen. “Between Charles and your job at The Library, you must have a crazy amount of experience. How long have you worked there?”
“Four years. I worked for Charles before that.”
Quinn dips his chin and plays with the quilt. “What happened between you and Charles?”
“I was his shiny new toy for a while until someone more interesting came along, and then I went back to being just another employee, albeit in a different capacity.”
“I’m sorry.”
I shrug. “It’s in the past. Like I said yesterday, I was never in love with him.” I gather up his hand in mine and stroke his skin with my thumb. “Tell me what you like. It’s safe to say I’ll have experience.”
Quinn straightens and looks me dead in the eyes. “Pain.”
I jerk my head back a little.
A slight blush creeps into his cheeks. “Not what you were expecting?”
