“You’re dreaming it, aren’t you?”

“Uh-huh.”

“I imagine we’d need to get married in a registry office and then ask a celebrant to do a blessing in the abbey.”

“Close enough.” Quinn rests his hand over my heart. “I have something for you. Remind me when we go to our room. As fun as having a blessing at Whitby Abbey would be, it won’t be private, will it?”

“Probably not. I doubt they’d close it to the public.”

Quinn sighs. “I’m sorry.”

“What for?”

“Not being able to have the vampire-themed wedding of your dreams.”

“Of my dreams?”

He chuckles. “Fine. Of mine. I wish…” He clenches his fist.

“Hey.” I tuck my knuckle under his chin and coax him to look up. “Whatever we end up doing will be perfect for us. I promise.”

He nods, and his hand relaxes. “We should go to Whitby one day. You can read me ‘Dracula’ while we sit on the windswept clifftops.”

“Sounds romantic.”

“Stefan?”

“Yes?”

“I’m really glad we decided to get to know each other better.”

“Me too. What about a chess theme.”

“Huh?”

“For our wedding invitations.”

“Oh! That’s a good idea. You should help me design them.”

“I’m not sure I’ll be much help.”

Quinn shrugs. “You can give me moral support and hugs.”

“I can do that.”

“I’m good with the way things are for now, though.”

“Me too.”

“No rush?”

I shake my head. “None at all.” I cup his cheek and kiss him softly and slowly.

‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran starts to play. We begin to sway and rotate in time with the music again.

“Do you want to go to our room before you get tired?” I ask.

“You just want your present.”
