At the same time, I understand why Gabe made the suggestion. He’s trying to help heal the rift between me and my parents. I appreciate the gesture, but for the first time since the three of us got together, Daddydoesn’tknow what’s best for me.

Blake:They won’t be.

Gabe:Don’t write them off just yet, baby boy. Give them a chance.

Blake:With all due respect, you don’t know my parents.

Calvin:We know they’ve accepted Hamish in Archie’s life.

Blake:I’m not Archie.

Calvin:No, you’re you, and you’re amazing. It’s time you showed your parents just how amazing. I agree with Gabe. You should invite them over.

Blake:It’s not fair when you both gang up on me.

Gabe:We’re not. Or at least that isn’t our intention, so I’m sorry if it feels that way. Please just trust us?

Blake:And if you’re both wrong? What then?

Calvin:Then we’ll throw them out and hold you until you feel better, princess.

Blake:Fine. I’ll call them.

Gabe:Thank you. Ask them to come over for dinner at seven. I’ll see you both soon.

I don’t call my parents immediately. Instead, I finish my drink as slowly as is humanly possible, by which time Corey has replied to my message.

Corey:You’re right. I won’t guess. Spill.

Blake:I’ve been offered a twelve-month modelling contract.

I’m less enthusiastic than I was before. Not because I’m not excited about the offer, but because I’m on the verge of tears as I psych myself up to call my parents.

Corey:Congrats! That’s amazing. Let me guess. Underwear?

Blake:Yes.

Archie: You deserve it.

Blake:Thanks.

Corey:You don’t sound excited.

Blake:I am. I’ve got to read through the contract and make sure I’m happy with it before I sign, so… it’s not a done deal.

Corey:If there’s anything you’re not happy with, negotiate. They want you, Blake. They know you’re amazing.

I swipe at my eyes as tears start to spill from them. Yeah, I’m so amazing my parents think I’m a total loser. But I’m not. I’m doing something I love, and I’m fucking good at it too. I’m not in debt. I have two amazing guys who I love and who adore me. And now the biggest male lingerie company in the UK wants to give me a year-long contract. I’m anything but a loser.

Archie:Does this mean you’re going to be famous?

Blake:Hardly. Anyway, you’re already collared to a famous author. Wanting a famous brother too is just plain greedy.

Archie:Then I’m greedy. Have you told Mum and Dad yet?

Blake:I’m about to invite them to dinner.

Archie:Really?
