Gabe chuckles. “Why wouldn’t he?”

“As someone who’s lived alone for most of my adult life, it’s overrated. I definitely prefer the idea of cuddling up to my two men every night.”

“You’re just greedy.”

“And you’re not?”

“I am. Especially when it comes to the two of you.” Gabe sighs.

“It’s hard to imagine that a couple of months ago, we hadn’t even looked at each other like that.”

“It really is.”

“You and Blake are still coming to mine tomorrow, aren’t you?” I ask.

“That’s the plan.”

“Great. We can talk about moving in together then.” My heart flutters, and I cross my fingers, hoping that Blake will be just as enthusiastic.

I hang up the call and frown when I see both voice mail messages and a text from Spence. I check out the text first for speed.

Spence:When you get off the phone, call me.

I press the icon next to his name and then the Dial button. He’s engaged. I try Gabe, but he’s engaged too, which leads me to think that Spence tried to contact us both, and Gabe beat me to calling him back. A moment later, Spence’s name flashes up on my phone as it rings.

“What’s up?” I ask.

“Your boy needs you,” Spence says.

“What’s wrong?” Gabe asks, which is the moment I realise Spence has us on a conference call.

“I’m not sure exactly. Corey rang me in a bit of a state and said that Blake was upset and ran off. He asked me to call you. He couldn’t go after Blake because of Lexi. I’m going round to theirs now, so I’ll get more out of Corey then.”

“Thanks,” I say as worry settles in my gut, making my insides cold. I knew there was something wrong. Damn. I should have done more to encourage Blake to talk to us.

“We’ll get hold of Blake and make sure he’s okay,” Gabe says. “Tell Corey not to worry.”

“I’ll try,” Spence says. “I’m going to drop off the call, but in theory, you two should be able to stay on.”

There’s a beep. The call doesn’t end.

“Any idea where Blake might have gone?” I ask.

“None,” Gabe replies. “I suggest we start by ringing him.”

“He might want to be alone.”

“Maybe, but I don’t think he’d intentionally make us worry about him.”

“I’ll call him and let you know.” I hang up the call and find Blake’s number in my phone book. The phone rings, but he doesn’t answer. I send a message to our group chat so Gabe sees it too.

Cal:Answer my call, princess.

I hold my breath while I wait for a reply. Blake’s name pops up with three little bouncing dots beneath it.

Blake:I don’t want to talk right now, Sir.

Gabe:Are you okay?
