I can think of a lot of reasons, but Blake has spent time with them, and I haven’t, so who am I to question their motives?
“What’s the address?” I ask. That will prove to me that I’m wrong about Blake’s and Hamish’s party being one and the same.
He tugs a piece of paper out of his pocket and hands it to me. My heart leaps into my mouth as I read the address. I’m not wrong.
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” Blake says.
“That’s Hamish’s address.”
“Hamish? As in yourboss?”
I nod.
Blake starts to cackle. He points at me. “I told you he was a Dom!”
“Shut up.”
He does, eventually, but the daft grin doesn’t fade. “Does that change things?”
It changes everything. It means my wild suspicions about Hamish’s party were right.
“I can’t go.”
Blake’s eyes go wide. “Why the fuck not? You fancy him, don’t you?”
I nod.
“So go. Show him you’re just as kinky as he is.”
“He doesn’t want me there.”
“How do you know?”
“If he did, he’d have invited me.”
Blake rolls his eyes. “Why haven’t you told him you think he’s hot?”
I shrug. “Because he’s my boss and I don’t want to get sacked? Plus, it would be weird. We have to work together.”
“Uh-huh. And he’s probably thinking the same, which means you’llneverget your act together. Unless you want to quit and then tell him you want him to order you to your knees.”
I glare at him. “I like working for him.”
“You’ve worked for him for three days. You can’t like him that much. You just like being close to the man you’ve fantasised about screwing for so long.”
“I didn’t think about screwing him until I met him. I like his books, that’s all.”
“Sure.”
I swat Blake over the arm.
He grabs my hand and clings on to me. “Youhaveto go, Archie. Wear that leather harness of yours. He’ll go nuts for it.”
“Or he’ll sack me,” I mumble.
“Or you’ll end upinthe sack. With him.”
I tug my hand away from Blake’s grasp and push the tip of my thumb between my teeth.
