And that shocked him. Nearly sixty years of enjoying solitude were erased in a few short months. He found comfort in her presence and had a new outlook on life.

It burned him knowing that Nightheart might’ve been right. Not that Cypher would ever admit it to him or anyone else, but the Cyborg fucker who was now his boss might know a thing or two about the real world that Cypher didn’t.

On another docket Mia had sent him was his option to hire a crew for his ship. At first, he had ignored the suggestion but now… Now he wasn’t sure.

He pulled Vee against his side and leaned down to sniff her hair.Do I want others, or do I only want you?She leaned into him, and the wires in his chest vibrated and blazed.I only want you.

His first acquisition, which would send him to Kepler of all places, was due to start the day after the championship. Less than twenty-four hours after the game. He only had two weeks left of this to deal with, and he could be away from Earth, enjoying a sense of freedom once more.

But there was one small hitch.

Her.

The EPED’s private airfield was empty except for a few engineers who left them alone. Instead of heading back up to the spaceport above, he had an EPED hover vehicle delivered down to them for safety. The other stolen one had been reclaimed by its owner, and he’d transferred funds to the man to apologize for its theft.

Vee settled into her seat, and Cypher closed her door. Was it sorrow he saw on her face? His lips twisted. He couldn’t be sure. But fuck was she beautiful. Two more weeks.

His need to dominate and control her every move hadn’t faded, and he believed it was because of how innocent she was. His hands shook to grab her against him again, to ruffle her up, to watch her eyes widen, and then rut her into a gasping, sweaty mess against the side of the vehicle in view of everyone who might be around.

Yet she’d still be cute after all that.He wanted to ruin her cuteness, to make her look like she’d been well loved so everyone would know she belonged to him. His chest tightened each time the urge came on.

She’d wanted to sleep with him last night, and he’d denied her. Cypher scrubbed a hand down his face. It’d been a hard night. How could he take advantage of her when he was planning on leaving?

I’ll steal her.The thought burned in his mind.I’ll take her with me.Darkness rose within him. She’ll have no place to run once we’re in space. She’ll be all mine, all the time, and I’ll never be alone again.

Thoughts like these plagued him. Hourly.

When did I become so fucking obsessed?

Moving to the driver’s side, Cypher groaned, adjusted his dick, and ducked in. Earth vehicles barely fit him, but he managed.

He inhaled deeply, needing Vee’s scent to calm him, but it wasn’t there. Instead, he smelled himself—on her—and it overpowered her wild candy sweetness. Cypher rumbled. The loss of her scent was bittersweet.

But damn, did he like that she smelled of him.

Two weeks.

Two weeks to devour her and get her out of my systems before I do something dangerous.

He was on the path to becoming Zeph. Cypher anticipated speaking to the other Cyborg now that there was a connection between him and the crocodile.

Vee twisted her hands in her lap, pulling Cypher from his thoughts, and he shot the hovercraft into the sky. The stifling silence continued between them.

He knew she was worried, but he didn’t know the best way to comfort her. He was beginning to believe there was something else on her mind other than her safety.

Bypassing the crowds, he sped to join the nearest airway and headed it toward NeoElite’s headquarters in the city.

“You okay?” he asked, the silence getting on his nerves.

“Yeah.”

“Why are you quiet then?”

“I’m thinking.”

“About what?”

“About the semi-finals tomorrow.”
