He stared at her lips. Vee’s body strained under his perusal. Her fingers shifted against each other, her toes curled, and most damning of all, her core clenched.
Cypher’s shallow breath fanned her face. There was a hint of whiskey.
He moved a little closer.
Is he…is he going to kiss me?
Or is he going to strangle me?
“Cypher?” she said, saying his name so quietly she barely heard it herself.
He surged away from her, and the moment was lost. The anger returned to his face, and her heart dropped into her stomach.
“We confront Nightheart,” he growled. “That’s what we do. We’re already two days late.” He stormed out of the room. She heard his heavy footsteps resound down the hallway.
Vee stared at the space he recently inhabited and licked her lips.
Oh my god, he was going to kiss me.She was sure of it.And I was going to let him.A shiver rocked her, her hands were clammy where they were still clamped together.
But he didn’t.
He hadn’t kissed her.
The sound of the ship’s hatch opening prickled her ears. “Vee!” he roared. “Come.”
She jerked out of her seat and ran after him before she let her embarrassment take over. She couldn’t let the fantasy in, not with everything else. She hurt enough already.

Cypher cursed as Vee stood before him in her little red dress while they waited in the EPED’s corporate foyer. His dick was hard as metal. The skirt fell to the middle of her pale thighs, and it just about killed him. Her legs were a little toned like he thought they would be. He wanted to grasp them in his hands and rub his palms all over them. He wanted to pull up her skirt, little by little, and discover what treasure was hidden beneath.
He wanted to nuzzle his face between her thighs and suckle her hidden flesh until it was marked.
I almost kissed her.
She’d looked so lost, and he’d almost taken advantage of it.
Cypher didn’t think she wanted anything to do with him. He couldn’t even adequately monitor her scent. Not once in the last several days had she given any indication she liked him.
He wasn’t surprised. He was certain he had few redeeming qualities when it came to humans. His jaw ticked.
His systems worked overtime to keep his cock from ripping through his pants and labeling him a perverted creep for all the universe to see. Each time he psyched himself up to check on her, it’d been a whole ordeal.
The rut was growing stronger, and seeing her in his bed, disheveled as if from a long love-making session, messed with his systems.
Decades. It had been decades since he last had a woman, and he was feeling it, sorely.
Cypher cursed under his breath again.I’m a fucking household name now.Footage of his scuffle outside Vee’s apartment played on all major media channels. If I want a woman, one will come to me eventually.
Protestors simultaneously chanted for his destruction and his worship outside the building. He gritted his teeth. Pumping his dick a dozen times the last few days had done nothing but make a huge mess. It hadn’t helped him with his knowledge of the female gender. It hadn’t rid him of this incessant need. It hadn’t helped at all but stoke his desire for her further.
He didn’t want another female.
And a creep he was, recording every second—in every angle possible that he could—of Vee in her dress.
She was a sight to behold. Red hair, red dress, pale skin. He had to remind himself that he was a bear, not a wolf, and that Little Red Riding Hood didn’t exist.
Dommik had a red-haired mate, but while Katalina’s was a naturally curly, soft red from her Irish heritage, Vee was a cute little doll, an odd one with all softness and curves to incite a red-blooded Cyborg to dive willingly into the pits of hell and forget there were systems inside him that could numb him out.
