A sound blared above them; she looked up for its source.

“We’ve reached Ghost,” he said, standing up with her. “Time to dock up.”

“To the city that doesn’t exist?” Norah patted down her hair and smiled. They walked to the bridge, her hand slipping into his.

“Figuratively.”

Matt was already strapped into his seat in the cockpit. Stryker took the helm and let Matt maneuver the vessel. He had taken it upon himself to teach him how to fly.

For the next few minutes, the bridge was filled with arguing, taunting, sarcastic quips, and some words she didn’t even know. It was almost a blessing when they flew into the outer intake port and joined with one of the largest freighters she had ever seen.

As if this didn’t exist.

Chapter Twenty-Five:

***

Norah walked out into a spacious, albeit grey and bleak, port. Stryker stayed behind to lock up the lab and manage the enclosures that had his other acquisitions. She and Matt were met by another man, another Cyborg; it was easy to identify him.

She looked up into scary grey eyes. Although they were soft, they had a faint pale glow to them. It distracted her enough that it took a moment for her to realize the Cyborg had a light blueish grey skin tone. It only made his eyes more creepy.

“Hey, Netto, is Gunner in port?” Matt asked and took the guy’s hand. Norah noticed that Netto placed his other palm on his gun.

“No.”

“Damn it. Is any of his brew in stock?”

“Try the drive.” His voice was deep, low, and only made his appearance even stranger to her.

“Thanks, man, catch you later.”

Matt strode off, leaving her and the other Cyborg alone. He looked down at her, expressionless, emotionless, and cold.

“Hi, I’m Norah Lee,” she raised her hand, feeling uncomfortable. The Cyborg took it slowly.

He was...cold. As cold as his expression.Unlike Stryker.Who was a warm-blooded snake.Herwarm-blooded snake. She bit her tongue before she asked the man if he was also a shifter borg'.

“Netto.”

“Nice to meet you, Netto.” They stood there in awkward silence. Norah looked away and around at the port. There were attachment passageways throughout, all open, all unguarded. It was big, vacuous, and almost empty. It didn’t seem like a city at all to her. “Do you live here?” she asked to break the silence.

“No.”

Norah frowned. Stryker’s footsteps sounded behind her and she breathed an awkward sigh of relief. Netto turned his freezing cold eyes away from her and she felt her blood begin to pump again.

Netto spoke up first, which, she didn’t understand why, shocked her.

“You called for me?” he said.

Stryker put his arm around her and they left his ship behind.

“Yeah, I heard you tell Matt that Gunner isn’t here. Was he here any time within the last several weeks?”

“No.”

“Is Dommik here?”

“Not anymore.”
