“Ah, and where are you planning to honeymoon? Bali? Cote d’Azur? Bora Bora?”

“Susie and I will head to America to visit her family for a week or so.”

“Darling and I will remain in England and shop around for our new home.”

“New home?”Lord Barry said with much volume. “Why, Barry Park is your new home.”

Matthew shook his head. “We haven’t had much time to look into it, but there are a few properties, two of them here in Devonshire, that appeal to us.”

“And what about you,” Lord Barry barked as he turned to Kenneth. “Are you to abandon me as well?”

“It is beneath you to play the victim, Father. I am not abandoning you, I am simply going on with my life as any man would.”

Lord Barry growled, scratched his chin and growled some more as the news sank in.

“I, too, have been looking at several plots of land,” Kenneth went on. “A few would lend themselves well to organic farming.”

“Organic. That’s just a passing fad.”

“No, it’s not, Father,” Matthew interjected. “It’s a very responsible way of farming, of growing food. It would please us greatly if you would join us in this endeavor.”

“Land,” Lord Barry said. “You’re aware of the headache that brings. Permits and regulations...not to mention finding adequate help.”

“We know all that,” Kenneth said. “But many young families have moved into the area, and I have no doubt we’ll find strong and capable hands to help us.”

“What do you say, Papa Barry?”Susie said as she sweetly leaned into her father-in-law. “Are you ready to close down all that nasty business in California and help us build this new way of doing things here in Devonshire?”

With a smile, he lovingly pinched her cheek. “Ah, this girl sure has a way with me.” He looked at me and pulled me in for a hug. “Both you girls are going to change the world, aren’t you?”

“We’re sure going to try,” I said.
