She bit her lower lip, wondering if it could really be this easy. “Maybe we’re jumping the gun. I mean we’ve just reconnected, and we don’t really know each other. I’ve lived alone for most of my life.”
“Same, except in barracks. But that’s different.”
“I like having my own time, but I think I’d like having time with you.”
“So are you saying what I think you’re saying?”
“We could do a few trial runs. Like I could come to San Diego when I have time, and you could head up here if you get time.”
He set his mug down and leaned in. “I don’t want to live here rent free. Like I can pay some of the mortgage?”
She shook her head. “I got lucky.”
“What do you mean?”
“I bought a house that was owned by a hoarder early on. Everyone thought I was dumb, but it was one of those things where I paid almost nothing. It took a lot of hard work and about two years, and I flipped it. This was years ago, and it was my first one. I kept buying and working on the weekends, doing stuff at night. I saved, found a great investment person, and I had money. When I bought the cabin, it was in terrible condition so I got it for a steal. Like I said, I’ve been lucky.”
“Wow, that’s amazing. I thought I was doing good just buying a house.”
“It is good. Not everyone can afford to buy a house. I’ve worked with a few groups who built homes for low-income families. It is always an emotional ceremony when we turn the homes over to the new owners.”
“That’s cool.” Griz squeezed her hand. “I know I’m here with my friends, but getting to know you better is my top priority.”
He tugged her hand, and she stood then moved to sit on his lap. She couldn’t believe that he was ready to go at it again. They were really going to need a lot more condoms.
Chapter 13
Griz woketo the sound of the shower running. They’d had sex twice more last night, and he woke with another hard-on. He should just jerk one out in the shower. Elowen would probably get tired of him sticking his dick into her all day.
He got up and headed into the bathroom just as Elowen finished with her shower. She wrapped the towel around her after she dried her back.
“Good morning,” she said then moved out of the bathroom.
“Morning,” he grunted before she shut the door. He took care of business and then stepped into the shower. He knew he needed to spend time with his buddies. They were going fishing this morning, and he half wanted to beg off and tell the guys he wanted to spend time with Elowen.
“Hey,” Elowen called through the door when he shut off the shower.
“Yeah?” He pulled open the door, seeing her in shorts and a T-shirt.
“The women want me to do yoga with them. I need to be there at nine.”
“Oh, cool. That will be great. I’m happy they are including you in their activities.”
“I was surprised.”
“I’m not. They’re good people. I’ll finish up in here and get dressed. Let’s head to the cabin for breakfast.”
“Do you think they will be okay with me eating breakfast there this morning?”
“Totally. They’ll be glad you came.”
“Okay.”
Griz dressed, and they headed to the cabin, stepping in to find the place smelling amazing. “Wow, this smells great.”
“Can I help you all with anything?” Elowen asked.
“We’ve got it. Just finishing up.”
