“Just because she’ll be here doesn’t mean we can’t see each other.”
“Cherie, sweetheart. I didn’t say we wouldn’t see each other. It’s just that I wouldn’t feel comfortable sleeping with you with your mother down the hall listening to her daughter moaning and groaning when we make love.”
Shifting on the chaise, she turned to glare at him. “I don’t moan and groan.”
“You don’t realize that you do. But I have to admit it turns me on.”
“Keep it up, Reese, and I’ll turn you off.”
He lifted her effortlessly and slipped off the chaise. “If this is going to be the last time I make love to you in a while, I intend to make the best of it.”
Cherie wrapped her arms around his neck. “It better be good.”
“When is it not good, baby?” Reese bent slightly, picked up the remote, and turned off the television.
She kissed his ear. “Let me think about it.”
* * *
Their coming together was rushed and frantic, as if they had to get it over with before they were discovered. Cherie pushed Reese’s hands away when he’d attempted to undress her; she was able to accomplish it in under a minute. She couldn’t pull her eyes away from him when he stepped out of his boxer briefs fully erect. There was no need for foreplay, as she felt a rush of moisture bathe the folds of her labia. Never had she been so aroused, so ready to feel Reese inside her.
She didn’t have to wait. Reese slipped on a condom and then entered her with a powerful thrust that sucked the breath from her lungs. He had aroused passions she didn’t know existed, while shamelessly moaning aloud with the erotic pleasure that took her beyond herself.
Reese was stunned by the pleasure Cherie offered so selflessly, and he never tired of making love with her. Even after ejaculating, he still wanted more. Her warmth, the feel of her silken skin, was a reminder that he wasn’t truly alive until he was inside her. Cradling her face, he kissed her mouth until her lips parted and his tongue plunged in and out of her mouth at the same time his hips kept pace. Skin to skin, they’d again become one with each other, and when he felt the walls of her vagina contract around his penis, Reese knew he couldn’t hold back any longer. Releasing her face, he buried his against the side of her neck and groaned out his passion as they climaxed together. He collapsed on her body, unable to move, even if his life depended upon it.
“Reese.”
“What is it?”
“You’re crushing me.”
He loathed moving because he didn’t want to sever their connection. “Okay. I’ll be back as soon as I get rid of the condom.”
“I’m going to miss making love with you,” Cherie whispered when he returned from the bathroom and got into bed next to her.
“It’s only going to be for a few weeks. Once your mother returns to Connecticut, we can always pick up where we left off.”
“Now that sounds like a plan.”
Reese reached for her hand, threading their fingers together. “Don’t you think it’s time we begin making plans.”
“About what, Reese?”
“About us, Cherie. I’m not a kid, and I know what I want.”
“And that is?” she asked.
“You.” He heard her intake of breath.
“Are you talking about marriage?”
“Yes. Not now, but sometime soon.”
Cherie had waited for years to hear those words from Weylin. They’d spent enough time together, and she wanted him to commit. But the man in her bed wasn’t Weylin. He was everything Weylin wasn’t and couldn’t be. “Can we talk about this after my mother leaves? And I promise to give you an answer at that time.”
“Of course. And I don’t want to put any pressure on you.”
“Then please don’t, Reese,” she countered. “I’m not going anywhere, and neither are you. I don’t want to rush into anything I might come to later regret. You have to know I love you, even if I don’t say it.”
