I guess I do like how my body is looking. It helps me fill out a t-shirt well. And now that Mabel will be seeing me naked, I am happy to be something she can drool over. And I plan on having a lot of naked time with her.
An hour into training and our general chit chat has reduced to silence. A testament to the intensity of the training.
Javi is the first to speak during a brief break. “This is weird. Riley has yet to complain or whine about today’s session?”
“I don’t always complain!” I reply defensively.
“Yeah,” Fleur draws out the word, “Cole’s been huffing and moaning the entire hour but silence from you. Are you feeling alright there?”
“I’m fine. Just hungry and want to get this over with so I can go eat,” I lie. Well, I do want to eat, but they don’t have to know what.
Javi looks at me, considering, but drops it.
We finish the gruelling second hour, with Cole punctuating every ten minutes with complaints, but I feel the hour drift by quickly.“Next track, I’ve organised a go-kart day. I’ve got us four down and Sophia, but does anyone have any family that will be at that track and will want to come?” Fleur asks, towelling down her face and neck.
Javi clicks his fingers. “Shelby said he’ll be around. Pop him down and I’ll remind him.”
Cole shakes his head as I offer, “Mabel should be keen.”
“Sweet. Glad Mabel will still be around. I’ll add the both of them,” Fleur replies, a small smile creeping on her face as she pulls her phone out and starts typing names on her list.
“How is going back in the same room with Mabel? Not too much?” Cole asks through heaving breaths.
“Great. We’ve gotten into a good…rhythm. We’ve both asked Koby and Rayna if we could get hotel rooms next to each other wherever possible, so see if they can keep trying to do that for us.”
“Cute.” Javi smirks.
“Figured we get along and I can help her make friends.” I shrug nonchalantly.
“Of course,” Javi replies.
I pull out my phone.
Mabs! Keep a day free for go-karts next month! Fleur will confirm the date. She’s a whiz at go-kart days, too. You’ll have fun with the crew. How’s work going?
Work’s fine, prepped everything for the next few weeks and some follow up posts of the race weekend all done. Just enjoying a quiet hotel room without you here. Sounds like fun!
I’ve never been go-karting.
I’ll gladly help pop your go-karting cherry. ;P
How did you make go-karting dirty?
Natural talent for it. Seeyou soon. x
Looking up, Javi is in front of me with a confused look on his face. “You’re smiling like a goof at your phone.”
“Mabel said something funny,” I reply, pocketing the phone quickly.
He looks at me suspiciously. “We still doing dinner tonight, or do you have somewhere else to be?”
“Nope. Still on,” I simply reply. This is hard keeping this from Javi. I mean, I know last year he kept Sophia and him hooking up from me. I know he did it for the relationship and until Sophia felt comfortable. Guess I am doing the same for Mabel. This is her first year in the paddock, and she might feel self-conscious. But she said she isn’t a relationship person. I can respect that. If that’s what she wants, no problem with me. I am just happy to be hanging with her.
“Ok, I have regained a normal breathing pattern. I’m out,” Cole says. His dog, Otto, follows him out the door. Cole has a tricked out motorhome he travels around in. It makes it easier to travel with Otto instead of hotels turning their noses up at a pet. This hotel is flexible and allows Otto to stay in the gym with us.
“I’m off, too,” Fleur adds. “I want to get in an outdoor run before the weather turns.”
“Bye!” Javi and I call out to them.
