“To hell with plans, Sophia,” he breathes before pressing his lips hard against mine.

All the logic and planned conversations I had prepped myself with fly out of my head as I feel his hands move to wrap around my waist. My hands reach for his chest, gripping the material. He deepens the kissing, and I feel like I am melting against his hard body. My head is swimming in the mangled remnants of what I should be doing, what I am allowing myself to do, which is get swept up by Javi.

Dispersed between kissing, I say, “How about we keep this between us. No pressure on ourselves and no one in our business? See where this goes.”

“Whatever you want,” he replies between kisses.

“Okay, we should probably stop now, because if we keep going, I am not going to be able to stop and leave this place,” I say. Instead, he makes his way down, nibbling and kissing my neck as I try to breathe properly.

“Oooorrrrr, we can stay here and have some fun? Make the sexting come to life? No threat of Riley bursting in to interrupt us again.” I can feel his smirk against my neck as I feel one of his hands make their way down to my ass, pressing me against his hard cock.

Moaning at the thought, I let my logical brain take over. We have been away from the pit for enough time and the team will be ready for Javi to continue testing. “The team will be looking for you very soon. How about you come to my hotel tonight?”

He sinks his teeth slightly against my neck’s pulse point and I moan again. “I can do that,” he replies. He lifts his head to look into my eyes, leaning down and kissing me again. This time, it isn’t as urgent as it was before, now satisfied with the agreement of a rendezvous tonight.

We reluctantly separate and fix up our clothing, pick up our cold coffees and sandwich, and head towards the pit with smug smiles across our faces.

It’s finally the end of the day’s session and the team is packing everything up, me helping where I can. The rest of the day at testing went by slowly. I was looking forward to getting back to the hotel to spend time with Sophia. I was still concentrating on the bike and the track, but adjustments took longer, leaving me standing around in the pit, twiddling my thumbs. Something I normally don’t mind, but today, it felt like it dragged the afternoon out. Rayna had been by Sophia’s side this afternoon, deep in discussions, so I couldn’t bend either of their ears to pass the time quicker.

Sophia and Rayna are still in conversation when everyone starts making their way to the shuttle bus to get us back to the hotel. Heading towards them, their heads raise. Rayna with a massively welcoming smile and Sophia with a shy smile.

“Just letting you know the team is heading back to the hotel now, if you wanted to get the shuttle with us all?” I offer them. Totally professional.

“Oh! Javi, you used to compete in motocross, right?” Rayna says excitedly.

“Yeah, got my start there. Loved it,” I reply.

“Excellent! Would you be interested in helping Sophia out with a new project she is working on?” Rayna looks at Sophia, nodding enthusiastically, then back to me.

Sophia’s face is slightly horrified and befuddled. A hilarious look on her.

“You had me at ‘motocross’. I would love to. Just let me know when and where you need me, boss,” I say, aiming that last part at Sophia.

“You’re the best. Thanks, Javi! I’ll let you two discuss the details amongst yourselves. That motorhome has capacity for two people. There is another bed hidden in the lounge. I can show you tomorrow. Let’s get on the shuttle.” Rayna leaps off the stool, collects her bag, and heads towards the shuttle bus at the back of the pit boxes, the sound of her shoes tapping on the hard concrete behind her.

Sophia is staring at me, dumbfounded, mouth agape.

“Let me pick this up for you,” I tease and press her chin up to close her mouth. This causes her to shake her head and scold me with a death stare.

“Guess we have more to discuss tonight.” I wink and gesture at her stuff. “Ready to go?”

Sophia sat next to Dave on the shuttle bus, leaving me to sit behind her on my own. I keep my head up, catching glimpses of her in the gap between the seats. Her talking and hand movements express how excited and passionate she is as she discusses the motocross project with Dave. I am so lucky to have fallen into that conversation at the right time.Thank you, Rayna.More time with Sophia. I can use that time to be close to her—no questions from the team or others in the paddock to why we are seeing each other more. But I can also use this time to help and support her. I know she will be putting her all into this project. I will have the opportunity to help her with whatever she needs me to do.

Arriving back at the hotel after forty minutes felt both fast watching Sophia, but also slow because I cannot wait to be alone with her and not keep my hands to myself. The team disperses through the hotel; some make their way to the bar, some to the restaurant, some up to their rooms. Sophia and I ride up the elevator on opposite sides with a few of the team separating us. The anticipation builds with each floor closer to her room. A few people exit with us. We linger and wait for them to disappear behind doors. Sophia leads me to her room and lets us in.

Pacing myself and not wanting to pressure her, I hang back and let her take control of the situation. My breath is rapid, and I am surprised at the realisation that I am nervous. My heart is beating so loudly I am sure she can hear it. That she can see the vein in my neck pulse.

She closes the door, takes my hand, and walks us to sit at the lounge. I want her to lead this encounter. Do only what she is ready for.

“We don’t have to sleep together. I mean, that would be awesome if you wanted to, but I am happy just being here with you,” I blurt out, still clasping her hand.

“I like spending time with you,” she says, pulling me to sit next to her.

“Ask me to go anytime you want to,” I offer, entwining her fingers with mine.
