“Hey, fuck him,” Seymour said firmly, gritting his teeth as he resisted a snarl. “I will find a way. I ain’t scared of him. I’ve fought Godzilla, killed a damn troll, and I even survived taking the insane ass king of the faeries to Wendy’s, all right? Feelin’ pretty confident ’bout dealin’ with one demon asshole.”
Sariel smiled, but it wasn’t very bright. “You are very stubborn.”
“Aries, remember?” Seymour grinned. “Kinda on brand, right?”
“Very.”
“C’mon, Daddy.” Seymour kissed him. “Let’s go get kitty girl and get outta here, huh? You can yell at me more later.”
Sariel pouted. “I did not yell.”
“Lightly fussed. How’s that?”
“Better.”
After they fixed his clothing, Seymour let himself sag against Sariel’s chest and close his eyes as they descended. This was exactly where Seymour wanted to be, and he had never experienced such a sense ofrightnessbefore. Yes, it wastrue he hadn’t exactly been alone, considering his many but brief relationships prior to this, but being with Sariel soothed something deep inside of him.
That void suddenly wasn’t so empty, now overflowing with a warmth he wasn’t ready to lose.
He had Sariel and Day too, two people—well, angel and cat girl—who he cared deeply for in spite of their brief time together. They’d both made such an impact on his life, and now he couldn’t imagine being without either one of them.
So, fuck Mr. Heiss.
Seymour was going to figure out a way to free Sariel once all of this bullshit was over, one way or another.
He should just let Day eat him.
Maybe.
Seymour didn’t open his eyes again until Sariel landed, and he grinned up at him. “Oh, hey. Fancy meetin’ you here.”
“Are you insinuating that you are surprised?” Sariel tilted his head. “Because we were moments ago… Ah. You are teasing me.”
“Not exactly teasing you. Just jokin’.” Seymour kissed him. “Now. Where is our kitty girl?”
Day was stretched out in the middle of the slide’s descent, purring with enough force to make the metal around her rumble. She raised a paw to wave weakly. “I still wish to slide, but my body fails me.”
“Didn’t think a ghost could get tired.” Seymour chuckled. “Kinda cute though.”
“Perhaps it is a mental projection of her previous mortal limitations.” Sariel hummed thoughtfully as he set Seymour down. His arms lingered around him, and he kissed the top of his head. “But yes, it is very cute.”
Seymour let himself enjoy Sariel’s hold for a few more seconds before pulling away. “Let me go peel her off the slide real fast.”
“I’m fine.” Day meowed grumpily. “Finer than… whatever it is you say.”
Seymour chuckled as he approached the slide. He reached down to gently scoop Day up into his arms. “Than frog’s hair?”
“Yes, that is the one!” Day giggled, purring as she curled up in Seymour’s arms like a baby. She smiled sleepily up at him. “Is it time to go?”
“Yeah, pretty sure. There ain’t shit goin’ on here.” Seymour shrugged. “Fuck it. I dunno what more we can do tonight.”
“Shall we go home?” Sariel smiled as he said the last word.
“Yeah,” Seymour agreed. “Home.”
Day’s eyes widened, and she purred louder. “Oh…”
“Aw, what is it, kitty girl?”
