He hadwantedit.

Regret was taking over his thoughts now and he was ashamed. It would have been better to have died

down there instead of feeling like this. He hated himself for giving in and loving how wonderful the

forbidden desires had felt. He especially loathed the tiny piece inside of him hoping that it would

somehow happen again.

Leaving the bathroom, he got cleaned up and started packing. He had to make contact with the Order

soon, but he was dreading it. He’d never had to report a failure before.

Snod didn’t know how he could even begin to explain all of his sins. Would the Order even allow him

to stay a member? Would he be excommunicated or something worse?

He swallowed hard, having heard many stories of members who had been executed for severe acts of

treason. He couldn’t imagine anything more traitorous than sleeping with their sworn enemy.

Kneeling beside the bed, he bowed his head in prayer. He knew he should be asking for forgiveness

for his sins, but there was only one plea bubbling up to his lips in this vulnerable moment.

“Help me, Lord,” Snod begged softly, the anguish inside of him threatening to swallow him up. “Grant

me the strength to move on. Help me stop wanting him so much... help me forget him.”

Forget how good he had tasted, how sweet the touch of his hands was, the wondrous sensation of

his body wrapped around...

Fuck.

Snod gathered his things and hastily left the hotel. He had to get outside the city and call the Order

immediately. He plugged in his phone, berating himself for not charging it earlier. He knew

subconsciously he hadn’t bothered because he was trying to prolong the inevitable. Cranking the car,

he took a deep breath and drove out of the parking lot.

He pulled into the street, finding himself instantly blinded by the headlights of a truck driving in the

wrong lane.

Well, wasn’t that just peachy.

Snod tried to jerk the wheel, but it was too late. The truck was traveling fast, too fast, and he got a

face full of airbag when they collided. His whole body rocked against the seatbelt as the windshield

and passenger side window shattered, raining glass all around him.

His car was pushed back several feet, tires squealing from his foot being wedged against the brake.

The force of the crash smashed it up onto the sidewalk and into a telephone pole.
