have run out at the right time. I might not have found him. Thank you.” His smile was a little sad,
adding hesitantly, “While the song did upset me, it was only because it was so very powerful. It was a
beautiful song, and I wasn’t prepared for how... how it would make me feel.”
“It made me think of you,” Frankie said honestly, resting his hand over Snod’s, his thumb slowly
gliding over his knuckles before finally turning the key.
“I know that it will take more time for me to adjust,” Snod said carefully, “but a sin or not, I want you.
More than anything. I know who I am now.”
“You’ll find that being immortal makes one very patient,” Frankie teased lightly. “I know this isn’t
something that will happen overnight. I’m willing to wait because I want this, too.”
Snod’s chest felt heavy, bowing his head down, the desire to confess and be forgiven suddenly
clouding his mind. It wasn’t the sins of his sexual desire that were pressing down upon him, but his
dishonesty, his treachery, and his guilt.
Old habits were difficult to break, and he needed absolution more than ever. The only person who
could forgive him and give him peace was sitting right next to him, swiping his tongue anxiously over
his lips as he said slowly, “There’s something I need to tell you.”
“Oh?” Frankie quirked his brows, keeping the car in park.
“I have not been honest with you,” Snod began, shame making his stomach twist and staring at the
dashboard. Now that he had begun, he found he couldn’t finish. There was no way that Frankie would
still want him after this. His heart was demanding that he be held accountable for the wrongs he had
committed, but he was selfish.
He didn’t want to lose Frankie, and this confession would certainly cost him everything.
“Obe,” Frankie sighed at length, sounding absolutely exhausted, “I already know.”
“Know what?” Snod gulped, every muscle in his body tensing with fear. He hated how Frankie was
looking at him right now, with such disappointment and yet, a faintly amused smile.
“Don’t play dumb. Please, just stop,” Frankie said, holding up his hand so Snod would let him speak.
“I already know that you were planning to go back to the Order.”
“How?” Snod demanded, stunned and immediately defensive. He had been so careful, suddenly
exposed and nauseous with the realization that Frankie had been onto him all along.
“Because while your ability to lie is very impressive, I’m a vampire,” Frankie replied with a snort.
“You think very loudly, and I am much better at reading the bond than you. You spin some pretty tales
