There wasn’t another soul in sight, but Frankie didn’t seem worried. He sat down next to Snod,
calling out into the back cheerfully, “Rees! Hey! It’s Frankie!”
“For fuck’s sake,” a sultry and deep voice bemoaned. “You don’t have to actually say ‘It’s Frankie.’ I
have cameras for a reason, darling!”
Snod stared as a thin man in a sequined dress came out to greet them. The man was wearing heavy
makeup and large rhinestone earrings, his tall heels clicking as he approached with a suspicious
scowl.
“And who is this?” the man asked, his finely manicured brows furrowing as he looked over Snod.
“This the guy?”
“Yup, this is Obadiah Snod,” Frankie said proudly, clasping a hand on Snod’s shoulder. “Obe, I’d like
you to meet Rees Everhart. Rees, this is Obe.”

Snod grimaced, swallowing back a mouthful of bile. “It’s... nice to meet you.”
“A pleasure, I’m sure,” Rees replied curtly. “You look like trouble, Obadiah. Are you going to give
me any trouble?”
“I don’t plan to,” Snod replied honestly, wishing his head didn’t hurt so much. Definitely cutting back
on the drinking.
“He really needs a job,” Frankie insisted, eyes pleading with Rees. “Anything you need, he’ll do it.”
“Fine,” Rees drawled, looking back at Snod. “What can you do? Know anything about bartending?”
“No,” Snod answered slowly.
“What about construction? Uh... how about carpentry?”
“Nope.”
“Electrical work?”
“No.”
Rees threw his hands up, laughing, “Well, what the fuck, darling! What can you do? Other than hold

Snod bared his teeth, frustrated with the sudden realization that he was inadequate for even the most
