My phone buzzed in my back pocket, pulling me from my thoughts. I had to extricate my arms from Luke as he continued to hug me tightly.
Seb’s name on my phone made my inside light up with giddy excitement. We lived and worked together. It wasn’t like Inever got to see the guy, but that didn’t stop the fluttering sensation in my belly.
“Do you mind if I grab this?” I asked Luke, holding up my phone for him to see.
“Go ahead,” he sighed dramatically, lowering his arms from me.
“Hey,” I answered.
“Hey. I just got home, and you weren’t here. Everything alright?” I could hear him moving around the house, then the rustling of clothes as he settled in after a long day in his chair.
“Yeah. I’m still with Luke. We were just wrapping up at Harpoon’s. I should be home soon.”
“Are you good to drive? Do you need me to pick you up?”
Luke rolled his eyes with a smirk, clearly able to hear our conversation, even though it wasn’t on speakerphone. “I’m good. I haven’t had anything to drink in hours.”
“I’m good too. Thanks for offering to help a friend out,” Luke shouted loud enough for Seb to hear him.
“Am I on speaker?” Seb asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.
“No, Luke’s just nosy and has good hearing,” I laughed.
“Good, if I’m not on speaker, then I can tell you this… when you get home tonight, I want you to sit on my face so I can fuck you with my tongue until you come.”
“Is that so?” I asked with a stupid grin.
“Fuck off, the both of you. That’s not funny,” Luke grumbled.
“Do you want to tell him that I wasn’t fucking joking, or should I?” Seb asked.
“You just be ready for me when I get home. I’ll handle Luke.” I gave Luke my smuggest look.
“Little wild, I’m always ready for you.” Seb’s low voice dripped with promises and desire. I finished my call and pocketed my phone.
“You guys are gross,” Luke complained like an eight-year-old boy who was afraid of getting cooties.
I pushed his shoulder playfully. “Okay, says the guy with the eight-month-pregnant girlfriend. I’m sure you have no idea how that could have happened, right?”
Luke grinned and pulled me to him for another hug, only to proceed to rub his knuckles against my head. I jabbed him in the ribs until he let me go, both of us laughing.
“Get home safe, Lyds.”
“You too.” He waited until I was in my car, pulling out of the lot, before he walked away.
I walked into Seb’s house a few minutes later to find electric candles lighting up the living room and hallway. I dropped my bag on the entry table and kicked off my shoes.
“Seb?” I called. No answer. I followed the illuminated path to the bedroom. The door swung open noiselessly, and my breath caught in my throat.
Seb was crouched down against the far wall, arranging more candles and flicking the switch to light them up. He was, conveniently, mostly undressed, wearing nothing but his briefs. Black tattoos covered his entire back, faces that transformed from human to bear fighting off against each other, a backdrop of flora elevating the piece and creating a fantasy-like element. The artwork couldn’t cover the definition in his broad, muscular back. Thick thighs, made to look even bigger in his tight briefs, were like tree trunks where he was squatted.
“What’s all this?” I asked. Seb turned toward me with roundeyes, pulling earbuds out of his ears.
“Hey.” He smiled, his prominent dimple on full display. “I thought I had a little more time.”
He walked over to me, his body like carved marble, and reached for the belt loops of my jeans, tugging me to him. He picked up his phone on the nightstand by the bed and quickly transferred the music from his earbuds to the speaker.
“It looks so nice in here.” I smiled.
