“Does she make your heart beat faster just by looking at you?” Scarlett asked. She rubbed circles around her ginormous belly as Luke leaned back and draped his arm over her shoulder.

“Yes.”

“Do you feel like you need to touch her, even in the smallest way, every time she’s near?”

My gaze shot to where Luke was brushing his fingers over Scarlett’s arm.

“Yes.”

“Do you think about her randomly throughout the day? Wondering what’s she doing or wanting to share something that happened with her?”

“Always,” I answered.

Luke glared at Scarlett, and she grinned right back at him, placing a small kiss to the corner of his lips. “Let them be, Luke. They’ll be just fine,” she said to him.

“I just don’t want to lose her again,” Luke confessed.

“I don’t either, man. Trust me.”

He chuckled softly. “That’s fair.” He picked up his fork again and continuedto eat.

“So, we’re good?”

“Yeah, we’re good. But maybe keep the PDA to a minimum when I’m around.”

I grinned at him, shooting Scarlett a quick wink. “Nah, you’ll get used to us being a couple faster if it’s in your face all the time.”

Luke went off about not wanting to see his sister making out with anyone, let alone his best friend. I let him rant with a smile on my face, just happy that I had my friend back. And I didn’t have to hide my feelings for Lydia.

Well, I’d have to tamp them down a bit longer. We were together and were both giving this thing between us a real shot. That was going to have to be good enough for now. Once Lydia was ready to hear it, then I’d tell how I really felt. For now, I was just happy to be able to call her mine.

“We can talk about something else, you know. Literally anything else,” I groaned.

Luke had invited me out to dinner, a kind of apology gesture for being an ass to me and Seb, I assumed. But as soon as I showed up at Harpoon’s, I found not only Luke waiting for me but Reid and Wes as well.

I’m sure Wyatt would have been here, too, if he were in town this weekend. Instead of a honeymoon, he and Maeve took the girls to New Hampshire for a few days after the wedding.

Now, I was sitting here with three of my brothers, including Wes, and being interrogated about my relationships, past and present.

“We can talk about it now, or I can just bring it up on Sunday night at Dad’s. Up to you.” Luke shrugged.

“How’s Scarlett feeling? She must have been exhausted after all the dancing she did at Wyatt and Maeve’s wedding.”

“Yup. But she’s good. Now, stop deflecting,” he answered, shoving a chicken wing into his mouth.

“We’re here for you, Lyds. We just want to know what’s been going on,” Reid said. Every once in a while, it hit me how much he had grown over the years I was away—a husband now with a thriving business and big plans for his future.

Now was not one of those times.

His puppy dog eyes and pleading gaze brought me back to those nights after our mom passed when he would sneak into my room, begging me to let him sleep in my bed.

My chest deflated as three sets of eyes stared back at me. “Well, ask questions, then. I don’t know what you want to know about,” I huffed, my attitude on full display as I grabbed a handful of sweet potato fries, popping them into my mouth one after another.

“Is Seb really the reason you left town?” Reid asked.
