“You look smoking hot. I know I have already told you, but I like this,” Colt says, running his fingers along my bare stomach. I tingle at his touch, and right now, I want to feel his warm hands all over my entire body. I swallow another gulp of beer, and Colt laughs.
“Come with me,” Colt requests, taking the beer out of my hand and placing it back on the bar. I furrow my brows as he takes my hand and leads me onto the dance floor, where Dingo and Sia are already getting their groove on.
Colt pulls me to him so our bodies are touching in every way possible. He starts to grind on me as he dances, and I wrap my arms around his neck, moving with him, letting him take the lead. I’ve never danced like this before. I don’t even know if I’m doing it right, and he smiles at my uncertainty.
“Just let the rhythm move you, Dee. Follow my lead,” he says, dipping me down and around slowly. I laugh loudly as he pulls me back up. He’s in such a playful mood, and I love it.
We finish dancing to the sexy song, and I feel that heat surging through us again. I want to make this a night of firsts, but I don’t know how to go about it. At the top of my list is to have rough, wild sex in the bathroom with him, and I almost gasp at the idea. There’s absolutely no way I’m doing that, but the alcohol rushing through me still has me thinking it could be a great idea.A girl’s got to have some dignity—we’ve only just met.At least that’s what I keep trying to tell myself.
Colt guides me back to the bar, and the bartender pours another round. Then Colt picks up our drinks and heads to a booth at the back of the VIP section. Johnny and Anna are sitting on one side of the booth, so Colt slides into the other, and I follow in next to him.
“So Dee, what did you think of your first rock concert?” Anna asks. “It looks like you were having a blast.”
I nod my head. “Absolutely. I’ve never experienced anything like that. It was crazy and chaotic and completely too loud, but I loved every second of it, and I can’t wait to go to another one,” I say honestly.
Then it hits me.
Colt’s leaving tomorrow for the US leg of theirLoaded and Live World Tour.
Tonight’s my only night with him.
A sudden wave of anxiety washes over me, and I exhale loudly.
“You okay?” Colt asks, placing his hand on my knee under the table. A gesture that seems to be his go-to move.
I don’t know what to say, so I simply nod and smile.
A waiter walks past, and I flag him down. The others look at me strangely, seeing as I have a full beer on the table before me.
“What can I get ya?” he asks.
“A bottle of my good friend Jack, please, and four shot glasses,” I reply, needing to drown my sorrows.
Colt and Anna look at me, their mouths falling open in surprise.
Johnny nods, then says, “You’re a girl after my own heart, Dee. Better make it two bottles,” he tells the waiter, who nods and moves off to get our drinks.
I pick up my beer and drink the entire glass in one go.
Colt’s looking at me with an eyebrow raised.
Just like Dory inFinding Nemo, I willjust keep swimming.
“Maybe slow down a bit, yeah?” Colt whispers in my ear. “You have to drink it slowly, or it will go straight to your beautiful head.” He leans in, kissing my temple.
Putting my empty beer glass on the table with a thump, I nod. Colt shifts his hand up slightly from my knee, and I can’t help but grin at him.
The waiter returns with our bottles of Jack and shot glasses, effectively interrupting the moment.
Oh, Jack, my dear, dear friend. How I have missed you.
I sound like an alcoholic, but I don’t care.
I want this pain in my chest to subside, and to do that, I need my Jack. Opening a bottle, I pour out four shots, and we each take a glass, clinking them together, then down the hatch they go. A slight shudder passes through me as I seem to have forgotten how bad my best friend tastes and wrinkle my nose, sticking out my tongue in disgust.
Colt laughs, and I fill the glass and take another shot. The heat from the alcohol is starting to warm me up and defrost the frozen feeling in my chest.
“Dee,” Colt says, now sounding concerned.
