I opened the drawer on the bedside cabinet to grab the lube. My gaze fell to the brightly colored thing next to it. Smiling, I picked it up.
“I made this for you. It says Jinx,” I said as I showed him.
He sat up to snatch it from me, before examining it with delight. He twisted each bead in turn and made happy, chuffing noises.
“Here, let me put it on you.”
I took it from him and tied it around his wrist. He shook his newly decorated arm, crooning in delight. Then he looked up at me with an intense look and patted the space next to him expectantly.
“Alright, alright,” I grinned as I started to undress.
My evening had unexpectedly become a whole lot better.
Chapter four
Thenextmorning,Iawoke with a start, my heart hammering in a ridiculous combination of hope and dread. But I was alone again.
I stared forlornly at the empty space where Jinx had been. We’d fallen asleep with him as the little spoon and I’d slept like a baby.
Memories of last night washed over me, Jinx whimpering in pleasure and clinging on to me. Jinx writhing and moaning. Jinx staring deep into my eyes.
It had been an amazing night. I’d given him his first blow job and his astonishment and glee had been a sight to behold. Then he had insisted on returning the favor. Several times. He was a very quick learner.
My morning glory throbbed hopefully, not understanding that the obliging incubus was gone. It was such a shame, that would have been a lovely way to start the day.
Groaning, I rubbed my hands over my face. Carefully I checked myself for any enchantments. I couldn’t find anything wrong. There were no hexes or curses.
Feeding him didn’t harm me at all, he absorbed all the lust, desire and concupiscence I would have expelled with my cum during sex anyway. He also would have gained faint traces and flavors of my magic, as all magic users shed occasionally, especially in moments of heightened emotion. But that was all.
So, this absurd attachment I was feeling, couldn’t be any side-effect of being drained in any way. And he hadn’t bespelled me. I must just be horny and lonely.
I heaved myself out of bed and headed for the shower. He had come back. Jinx had come to visit me twice now and I had shown him a good time again last night. He would come back again, I was fairly confident of that.
Besides, I couldn’t lie around all day moping. I had work to do. It was the day of a very important meeting, one I had been working to arrange for months.
A few hours later I pulled up in the car park of a nightclub in the middle of the day. My heart was racing, my palms sweaty. Jinx was all but forgotten.
I was meeting with mobsters. I had tracked the Alarna Sapphire to their possession and was attempting to buy it from them. To the mundane world Septimus Ravenson was a wealthy, eccentric antique dealer. To the paranormal world I was a mage from an illustrious family, who tracked down magical artifacts and reclaimed them for the magical community.
The mob just thought I was an antique nerd obsessed with the sapphire’s history. They had no idea how powerful the item they held was. They’d never know.
I was going to buy it and then sell it to a mage, someone who could use it to its true purpose. The knowledge gave me great satisfaction. I hated to think of magical objects locked away in safety deposit boxes, mundanes thinking they were merely expensive and pretty. It was such a waste. Magical items should be free, should be used. It was lovely to be able to liberate them.
Standing tall, I walked across the deserted car park with a confidence I did not feel. I was sure I was already being watched via CCTV. Image was everything. Without hesitation, I approached the nondescript back door and knocked on it sharply. It opened almost immediately, confirming my conclusion that I was being watched.
The mountain of a man who let me in, all but growled at me.
“Weapons and phone,” he demanded.
I handed him my phone. “I don’t have any weapons.”
He looked at me like I was a complete idiot and gave me a cursory pat down. Then he stared at me for a long moment until I thought he wasn’t going to let me in. But he stepped aside and gestured for me to enter with a curt tilt of his head.
Reminding myself that I was a powerful mage, I stepped into the darkness. Man mountain pulled the door shut behind us. It closed with an ominous clang, plunging the hallway I was standing in into total obscurity. Feeling, more than seeing my way forward, I made my way down the narrow corridor.
It opened up into the main area of the club. All windowless and still very dark. But more shadowy and gloomy than the pitch black I had just been in.
The empty dance floor and bar seemed incongruous. A place normally full of people and noise, was now silent and empty. It was like I could almost feel the echoes of the night before.
