He picked Delilah up from the highchair. “Come on, I need to drop you off in the playroom, I have so much to do.”

When he got to the playroom, he was surprised to see Isaiah in charge of the pups. The omega’s stomach was enormous. Silas still couldn’t believe his friend had managed not to get pregnant on his dirty weekend away, whilst not only he was in heat but Zayne was in rut, but had fallen pregnant a couple of months later. Cyrus was going to have a little brother or sister and if they kept up like this, Isaiah and Zayne were going to double the size of the pack by themselves.

“Are you sure you should be in here?” Silas asked.

Isaiah smiled as he took Delilah from Silas’s arms. “I’m fine.”

Silas eyed his friend’s huge belly suspiciously. “No going into labor today! It’s my special day, not yours!” he ordered.

“Wouldn’t dream of it,” grinned Isaiah.

Silas sighed and turned his mind to the final bits of wedding preparation that needed doing.

Chapter thirty

Acoupleofhourslater, Silas stood staring at the suit hanging on the back of the wardrobe door in its plastic wrapper. He clutched his bathrobe around himself. He had spent far too long in the shower and really needed to get a move on.

Everything was fine, he told himself. It was silly to be nervous. It was just a silly ceremony and then a party. And meeting Dean’s parents. Silas shuddered. He was supposed to have met them earlier in the day, but their flight had been delayed. Now they were going to make it just in time for the ceremony, so Silas would have to meet them afterwards.

Yesterday, Dean had teased him mercilessly for being nervous about meeting his parents, and Silas had to agree it was ridiculous. He was a feared necromancer and Grand Master of the Council. They were just some old betas that had been useless at staying in their son’s life. It didn’t matter if they didn’t like him.

There was a brisk knock on the door, and then Luca stepped in with a huge smile on his face.

“Come on, let’s get you dressed,” beamed Luca.

“I can dress myself!” snapped Silas.

Luca flinched and stepped back, his green eyes wary. “It’s a human tradition. I think.”

Silas sighed. “I’m sorry. I’m a grumpy ass to everyone. Please don’t take it personally.”

“And I’m a nervous Nelly,” said Luca with a soft, self-deprecating smile.

Silas stared at him for a moment. He was increasingly getting the impression that Luca’s childhood had been awful, but he doubted his little brother would want to talk to him about it anytime soon. They still barely knew each other.

Silas scrambled for a change of topic instead. “Did you and Erik have a mating ceremony?”

Luca laughed. “Not at all! I was raised by humans. I didn’t even know about mating. I thought Erik wanted to eat me, and not in a good way. So I ran away. Through the woods and he had to chase me.”

Silas felt his eyes widened. The oldest of mating rituals and a surefire way to get everyone’s most primal instincts fired up. A brief chase around a house had done well enough for him and Dean.

“The sex must have been incredible,” said Silas before he could stop himself.

Luca giggled, his green eyes bright. “Oh, the sex was amazing!” he agreed happily.

Silas laughed. It seemed he had a lot in common with his little brother. He was so glad he had found him and he really was looking forward to getting to know him.

“Time to get dressed!” prompted Luca.

Silas sighed and quickly stripped. It wasn’t until he was naked he remembered that Luca had been raised by humans and was probably weird about nudity. Silas glanced over his shoulder, but Luca seemed to be taking it well. Hopefully that meant he had been living amongst shifters long enough now to get over silly human hang-ups.

Still, Silas quickly pulled on his suit or tux or whatever it was called. Apparently, the difference was something to do with the lapels being silk or velvet. His were black silk.

Luca helped him with the tie before standing back and grinning.

“You look incredible,” said Luca.

Silas turned to face the mirror. The suit fit well. It was probably a little tight on the thighs, but he had great legs. It would be a shame not to show them off. The bright white shirt and close-fitting jacket showed off the firmness of his chest.
