He moved his hips back, then forward, keeping the rhythm, feeling her lose herself in the pleasure. Her sounds came quicker, louder, sharper, and he got to the point where he couldn’t hold back anymore and let himself go, just as she jerked with an orgasm ripping through her body, sending his own wild and tipping over into bliss.
She gave a final gasp, her body went limp in his arms, and he held her tight as the pleasure exploded between them, pulsing with electrifying energy.
Ben gracefully lowered her, so she stood next to him, her feet back on the ground. He kissed her gently. There was so much he wanted to say to her. Thanks for taking a risk and moving here. Thanks for being patient while I work long hours. But his mind was fuzzy with the afterglow. All of that could be said later. He wrapped his arms around her, kissing her once more.
“I love you,” he murmured. That was all he needed to say.
“I love you, too,” she answered.
That was all he needed to hear.
Raven blushed as she dressed. “I can’t believe we just did that.”
Ben laughed. “Yes, you can.” He pulled up his jeans. “We used to do this only once a year, or have you forgotten?”
“I haven’t forgotten.” Though it had felt like a longer wait than a year, which was stupid because, of course, it hadn’t been. “It’s just good to…” She felt the heat intensify on her cheeks.
“What, fuck me in nature?”
She playfully slapped him on the arm and laughed. “No. Yes.” She rolled her eyes.
“You’re confusing a man here.” He winked at her.
Raven paused, lowered her voice. “I’ve missed this.”
“Raven, I’m sorry.” He embraced her. Warmth wrapped around her, and she rested her head on his chest, breathing in his masculine scent, hinted with dust. She like this new smell of his.
“I shouldn’t have said anything.” This wasn’t the time to bring in how lonely she feels, not when she had a plan to get more involved, but somehow, the words had slipped out.
“I want to say that it’s not always going to be like this, but it will every year at this time. Then there’s the seeding time before winter.” He looked into her eyes. She felt herself go weak in the knees. There was no doubt there was a deep attraction between them. He brushed a loose piece of hair back behind her ear.
“But you need to know I’m still here, working hard for a future for us.”
When he spoke ‘us,’ a shiver went through her body. She believed him.
“I know.” She did know this, and it helped to keep the loneliness she’d been feeling at bay.
“You’ve given up so much. I want you to know there are no words to express how grateful I am that you’re willing to take a chance on me.”
“On us,” she corrected.
He smiled, his eyes lighting up. “On us.” He kissed her softly.
“There are always things to be doing on the farm, but I’ll make time for you when I can, always.”
“I should hope so.” She winked at him.
He cupped his hands around her jawline, stared deeply into her eyes. “I know so.”
Her skin prickled. How she hoped that his words would keep the feeling of isolation away. She kissed him.
“Now, I’m sorry, but – “
“Let me guess, you got a job to do.”
“Yes.”
“Can I help?”
