She moved her head and looked up at him. “I can’t seem to make it last with you.”

He smiled, chuckled softly, then kissed her. This wasn’t like before. This kiss was slow. Soft. A promise. Waves of shivers spun down her spine.

There was more to come between them.

This wasn’t the quickie they were thinking.

“Me either.” He kissed her once more, sending another tickle down her spine. “I want it too.”

“Me, too.” She didn’t trust herself to say anything more.

What am I doing? This wasn’t the sort of man she went for. He was rough around the edges, rude to women, and from the country. Yet, he turned her on, so she was ready and willing and unable to resist. Even now in the afterglow.

“I want to do this properly.”

His words stirred a new level of desire within her.

“Not quickly, but slowly, and longer.”

She gazed into his eyes. The storm there had stilled, but there was another building. Just like within her own body. The storm within her had broken, but there was another on the horizon which she knew she was going to struggle to ignore.

“How about tomorrow night you come to my hotel room.”

She nodded. “Sure.” She tilted her head towards his and they kissed. There was no way she was turning down that invitation.

All the way driving home, Zoe couldn’t believe what she’d agreed to. But then again she could. This is not a quickie. She swallowed hard against the rising emotions that were burning up from within her.I should’ve said more. Asked questions. But for some reason, the words hadn’t come, and they didn’t matter. A part within her, not her head, and she wasn’t sure it was her heart, had decided she was going to see Max again for another sexual encounter.A fuck, a voice in her head reminded her.

She giggled. This was a hell of a lot of fun. And why would she turn down a fuck with him? Another one. Third in as many days. Yet, was it just that? The way she lost control, allowed herself to be in the flow of the desire which was so strong between them, it couldn’t be anything more.

The heat that was between them still burned pleasantly on her skin and within her body. She could taste his manliness on her tongue. She’d never noticed any sort of details before when she was with a man, and she’d been with just a few, always older, much older. But none of them compared with Max.

What is it going to matter? She wasn’t sure when Max was going home, but it had to be soon. And there was no way in hell she was moving to the country. If she was going to move anywhere, it would be to the city, Melbourne or Sydney, and work in a top law firm there. Not live in the back and beyond and raise a family. Family would come later. First, she wanted a high flying career, and so far she was well on track. And this was just a bit of fun on the side, a pick me up from working so hard. Her stomach churned. Somehow it felt like it could be more. She knew she should ring Ellie or Billie and talk with them. She’d texted them both to say she was safely on her way home. She didn’t want to speak to them knowing damn well Max wasn’t right for her. She didn’t want a lecture on the topic of how reckless she was being. Or a reminder that this was a fling.

Why?A cold shiver of realisation went down through her body from head to toe.

Why?Because there was a small part of her that was hoping that this could be so much more.

And that scared the hell out of her.
