I huff in frustration for calling my bluff. “Just don’t say anything. Got it?”
He shakes his head, chuckling. “You’re the one who should be bragging about it. Finally experiencing a first-class fuck. I’m guessing you’ve been deeply deprived based on your…” He motions with his hand in my direction. “Lack of interest. I did you a favor. You might as well thank me for showing you what a real man can do and why you should be fucking on the regular instead of just reading about it. You’re welcome.”
The nerve of this jerk. “The only thing to thank you for is showing me what it’s like to sleep with a certifiable asshole and why it was a terrible idea.”
I’m relieved when he parks so I can be on my merry way and forget this ever happened.
“Oh, Little Mouse, sleeping isnotwhat we did. And if I thought you actually believed it wasn’t the best cock you’ve had, I’d take you right back to my room and prove otherwise.”
“As if I’d let you.”
“You really have no clue who you’re up against, do you?”
Instead of answering, I exit the cart in a huff and walk back into the reception without uttering another word. He’s impossible—cocky, rude, and so full of himself I’m shocked he has any friends at all.
“Where have you been, and why does it look like you and Braden were together?” Cici’s voice is laced with suspicion as she catches me on the way in, noticing Braden behind me. We walk and talk toward the bar, since that’s where I’m headed.
I’m sure it’s easy for Braden to lie through his teeth, given hisprofession. Me? Not so much. But since the last thing Cici needs on her wedding night is to worry about me, I’ll give it my best effort.
“Feminine emergency, and Braden was the closest one I could find to drive me to my room.”
It seems like she bought it, but then she goes from skepticism to concern. “Is he harassing you again?”
“When is he not?” I laugh.
“True. Just let me know if you need me to step in.”
“Don’t worry about it. Did I miss anything while I was gone?” I ask as we make it to the bar, quickly changing the subject so as not to push my luck. The faster we talk about something else, the better.
The bartender comes over, and I quickly order my very much needed drink before she answers.
“Well, I’m not sure when you left, but Walker hit on Matt, and it was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Matt didn’t take it very well and almost punched him in the face until Mia stepped in to smooth it over. They’re getting along great now.”
“Oh wow. Darn it that I missed it, but I bet I’ll hear about it on the way home tomorrow.”
Since Matt and I are on the same flight, I’ll let him fill me in on the story then. It sounds like it’ll be a good one.
“I’m sad you’re already leaving. I’ve missed you,” Cici pouts.
“Me too, but I’ll be back before you know it… to meet this little one.” I smile and rub her belly. “I can’t wait.”
“You and me both.” She looks to the heavens.
“I’m so happy for you, Cici. Really. Congratulations. I’m so glad everything worked out with you and Eli. You guys are adorable together,” I say genuinely.
“I heard my name. Are you talking shit about me already?” Eli asks sarcastically as he joins us, draping his arm around Cici and pulling her to his side.
“Of course we are. You better take care of my girl for me,” I say sternly to Eli.
“She’s my number one priority, which is why I’m bringing herto bed. You’ve been on your feet all day and need to rest.” He leans in to kiss her temple. “Sebastian and Lily already called it. They said to tell you both good night and that they’d say goodbye in the morning.” The last part is addressed to me.
“Wait! I have to throw my bouquet first,” Cici exclaims.
“All right, cutie. I’ll go have the MC announce it. But then we’re going straight to the room.” Eli kisses her forehead.
“You sure it’s to rest?” Cici asks coyly.
“For you, yes.” He kisses her cheek. “But I didn’t say anything about me.” He wags his brows and walks off toward the DJ booth.
