“It’s a locket,” he says, gesturing to the side of it. “Open it.”
When I do, I see that a small, coiled piece of paper rests there. I carefully pluck it out and unroll it.
It’s always been you.
I will never forget this moment. The way the wind blows his curls over his eyes, the redness of his nose from the cold, the tears still lining his eyes, and the dazzling smile will forever be etched in my memory.
“I love you too, Clara.”
With a gentle grasp on his cheek, I pull Felix close and press my lips to his.
TWENTY-SIX
CHRISTMAS EVE
I love her,I love her, I love her.
I love the way her green eyes grow shiny with happy tears.
I love the way her breath hitches when I brush my lips across hers.
I love that she’s sitting in front of me on Christmas Eve, making my every wish come true.
I thought I loved her before, but at this moment, when her eyes are wide and the rising sun casts the Earth in its beautiful, warm glow, I know I have never loved her more than this moment.
Because now she is mine.
TWENTY-SEVEN
CHRISTMAS EVE
It wasdifficult not to watch as my Omega and Beta finally admitted to one another just how deep their feelings went, but they deserved privacy. I had to sit sideways in my truck and focus on my phone so I didn’t encroach on their moment.
But now they’re walking toward me, hand in hand, massive smiles on their beautiful faces.
They did it.
I knew they would. They only needed a little push.
It’s unlikely that Felix, amid spilling his feelings, mentioned that we are scent matches, and I doubt Clara did either.
This ride back to their apartment is going to be interesting.
Felix wrenches open the door to my truck and slides in, leaning over to kiss me on the cheek.
That’s when he freezes.
“Oh my God,” he whispers, turning to face Clara. “I didn’t tell you. Gabriel is my scent match. I found out last night.”
She smiles and strokes his hair behind his ear. “He’s mine too.”
Felix whips his head to me and glares. “You are? Since when?”
I clear my throat. “The Christmas party.”
“Why did neither of you tell me?”
“I didn’t want you to think I was taking Gabriel from you,” Clara whispers. “I didn’t know how you felt for me, and I worried that you’d agree to be with me just because Gabriel was the Alpha you wanted.”
