“You have to get up,” she says urgently, pulling at my arm. “They’re looking all over the castle for me, and I’ve already fooled them once.” She looks towards the open door and back at me. “I’m sorry about that.”

“About what?” I’m not sure I like sitting up, so I go back onto the cool floor.

Kaitlyn pulls me up again, and I plant my face directly in her chest.

This, I likeverymuch. My groan is muffled but it is good.

“Linton! You need to concentrate.”

“Don’t wanna,” I say into her soft, pillowy mounds.

“We have to get out of here. The Faerie Lord is going to come back.”

“Let Tam Lin come. I will fight him,” I growl.

“I don’t think you’re in a fit state to fight anyone,” she says, her voice soft. “But I know you will as soon as you are able. Can you stand?”

I prefer where I am. So, I don’t move.

“Linton?” She says my name, and I could happily hear it from her lips forever. “Linton? You’re drooling.”

I am drooling andit is great.

She slides her arms around my waist and lifts. With considerable reluctance, but with my head still attempting to stay where it is, my legs comply with the request, and I get to my feet.

“Linton, sweetheart.” She combs her fingers through the hair on the side of my head, not, sadly, my antennae. “We have to get out of here. Do you know any way which means we can bypass the main gate?”

“Could fly.” I open my wings although one isn’t keen. “But not full moon.” I sigh. “We’ll have to use the tunnel.”

“There’s a tunnel?”

I lift my head from her chest and put a finger on her lips. Or as near as I can get it to her lips because it keeps moving and there are two of her.

“Shushshsh.” My mouth rushes out the sound which I’m not sure I’ve ever made before. “No one knows. Is Bluecap secret.”

“Do you remember where it is?” she asks, her voice quiet and slightly muffled behind my finger, which she gently encloses with her hand and removes.

I think for a while. It’s harder than usual.

“Yes,” I say finally. “But can we mate first?”

“We can mate when we’re free.” She cups my cheek. “Because you’ve been a very good boy.”

My breath comes out as a short, harsh pant. I like being her good boy and I also get to mate with her.

“It’s this way.” I move forward but not all of me wants to follow, and I end up ricocheting off the door frame.

“Hey, I’ve got you,” Kaitlyn says, appearing on my left side, her arm around my waist. “And once we’re out, we can also figure out what they gave you.”

“Is control,” I say. “To make me feel nice.”

“It’s control all right,” Kaitlyn grumbles. “To make you compliant.”

“Never.” I drool. “Unless it’s for my Kaitlyn.”

“You keep telling yourself that, and perhaps we’ll get out of this before the Faerie find us.”
