Taking Alice’s chilly hand between hers, Sally bowed her head. “Hold on just a little longer,” she whispered. “Your true mate is coming.”

Calling on every ounce of power within her, Sally resumed pouring healing energy into Alice’s failing body. She would not lose this bright soul to the darkness.

“Sally-mine.”Costin’s worried voice filled her mind.“What’s going on? I can feel you pulling my power through the bond.”

Sally quickly filled her mate in on what was happening.“You keep doing what you’re doing. Send me as much power as you can. You know the drill.”

“What about the other healers? Can you reach out to them? They can share their power with you.”

“I can’t. I have to stay focused, and Kara is with me. We both need to be completely tuned into Alice. You reach out to Rachel and ask her to get in touch with the others.”

“On it,”Costin assured her.“You stay safe.”

“The goddess is watching over us. We will be fine.”

Costin’s love enveloped Sally, warmth pouring into her where the cold from Alice’s form had penetrated her psyche.“Thank you. I love you.”

“Love you more.”

Costin didn’t leave her completely but remained like a shadow in the back of her mind. Sally couldn’t fault him for it. She was pregnant with their child, and just being away from her was an enormous concession on his part.

“Costin is telling Rachel,” Sally told Kara. “We can get the other healers to lend us some of their power.”

Kara nodded. “Good.”

Sally saw the healer had dark circles under her eyes. “Kara, take a break.”

Kara gave into Sally’s suggestion, pulling her power back a bit. “Nick’s about to lose his damn mind.” She took big breaths of air.

“He has good reason,” Sally pointed out. “He just got you back.”

Kara’s face tightened briefly. “I know. But I’m not a fragile damsel in distress. He has to let me stand on my own two feet.”

“He will.” Sally smiled. “Once you’re no longer pregnant and helpless.”

Kara snorted. “Doubt it.”

“Kara’s right.” Perizada suddenly appeared on the other side of the bed. “Nick will never give her space. He’s too dominant. Better to just accept him as he is and find ways to drive him crazy.”

“That’s super healthy relationship advice, Peri,” Sally said dryly. “Since you’re handing it out for free, how about you help Alice out and go get her mate?”

“This time, I’m not even ticked off that it’s one of you healers that must be saved—again.” Peri sighed. “It got me out of a really awkward conversation.”

“Glad we could be of service.” Sally continued to pour light into Alice, attempting to fight off the female’s immune system. “Now, could you please go do what the Great Luna asked you to do?”

“One, alpha, bossy, rogue-as-hell werewolf coming up,” Peri said. “You want fries with that?”

Sally nearly laughed. “Jen would suggest whipped cream.”

“Not touching that with any length of pole. Keep her alive. She’s the key to bringing Cain and his whole operation down.” Then the high fae was gone.

“She’s fun,” Kara said dryly.

“Did someone order four gypsy healers?” Stella’s voice filled the room a moment before her body appeared. Next to her, Heather, Anna, and Jewel appeared. Sally was surprised to see Jewel, but now was not the time to inquire about how she was.

“Thank you for coming. We’ve got to keep Alice alive. She’s the healer I told you about.”

“What’s wrong with her, Sally?” Heather asked as Anna took the blind healer’s hand and led her to the bed, helping her find a place to sit.
