But I had to let her down for the fucking greater good.

Guilt clawed through me like a pissed-off bear, my throat clogging up.

“Well, darling? Isn’t this incredible?”

I looked to Ollie as if he somehow held a lifelineto throw me. But a different guy snagged my attention.

Tony Gilbert stood under the floral arch, offering me a wave.

Oh. Shit.

Chapter 21

ISAAC

My heart drummed in my chest, my anxiety through the roof.

And excited. So breathlessly excited.

Whoa. There he was, dressed in head-to-toe white, back in my life again.

Just look at his chiseled face, that light copper skin tone, those incredible dark eyes, his dirty-blond hair shaved at the back and sides, the top long and swept back. So handsome, so hot, giving off rugged, bad-boy energy.

Get in me!

I slowly rose from seat.

“What are you doing, darling?” Helen asked.

I moved toward him, ignoring her, drinking in every inch of my ex’s delicious aesthetics.

He seemed different. Bigger, more muscular than before.

Ollie and Jake were watching from a shortdistance, ready to pounce. But I ignored them, my attention drowning inhim.

He grinned, revealing a gold tooth which hadn’t been there before.

“Hi,” he said when I got close enough, his voice dreamy.

“Hey,” I answered, stopping a few feet away from him. “Is it really you?”

His smile. His darn, knee-weakening smile. “It’s really me.”

“With extra muscle,” I responded.

He cocked a grin, wiping the side of his mouth with his thumb.

Yum.

Before he got fired fromThe Sands of Love,he’d been a major heartthrob. But then a series of drunk driving incidents and fighting with the TV soap’s production staff got him fired, his character Kyle killed off screen.

“Are we doing hugs?” he asked.

“I—”

The restaurant windows exploded before I could answer.
