“Hey, yourself.” She eye-fucks me, and I make a mental note to show my girl how much I appreciate herappreciatingme later, when we’re alone. “Kerri called. She’s on her way to Mayhem. I hope that’s okay.”

I hold out my hand to her, and when she’s within reach, I wrap my arm around her lean body. The bike gets in the way, but I’m able to give her a big, loud kiss on the side of her head. “It’s all good, Fizzle.” Then to Havoc, “Right, Hav? I’m sure you won’t mind if Kerri helps us celebrate Discord’s birthday. Hell, maybe we can even play matchmaker.” I wink at Faith. “What you say, Faith? Is your friend a cougar? Ow.”

It’s Faith who punches me square in the chest. “Why are you purposely provoking him?”

I’ve seen Havoc killing mad, and right now, he’sthiscloseto murdering me.

“Because it’s hilarious.”

“Keep it up, asshole, and I’ll slit your goddamn throat and we’ll see how funnythatis.” Havoc issues this threat in a literal growl. And I’m sorry, but it makes me want to screw with him even more.

Faith steps between us and notches her chin. “Dare you to get past me.”

“That’s how it is?” Havoc demands.

She strides right up to Havoc as if he’s not glaring daggers at her. She crosses her arms over her chest and stares him down. “Yep, that’s how it is, Havoc. Problem?”

“Nah.” He gives her a slow and nasty sneer. “It’s about fucking time.”

When Faith hugs him, Havoc stiffens. He keeps his arms glued to his sides. She whispers something in his ear that makes him roll his eyes and shove her away. “Never going to happen.”

“We’ll see,” she warns him with a smirk. Then to me, “Are you done?” She gestures to the track.

“Depends.” I drag my gaze over her and imagine all the things I’d rather do instead of sitting out here sweating. “What do you have in mind?”

She glances over her shoulder at the line of portable tables set up in the middle of the courtyard. When she looks back at me, it’s with the devious expression I’ve become wonderfully familiar with. “Kerri won’t be here for at least an hour, and there’s still time before the women need help to set up for the food.”

Well, now… “Sounds to me like an invitation.”

“Because it is,” she confirms.

Havoc pulls on his helmet. He starts his bike and revs the engine. “And with that, kids, I’m out.”

“I’ll let you know when Kerri gets here,” Faith yells as he races away. Damn right, he heard her, and fuck yeah, she hit a nerve, because he flips her off and kicks up dirt in his wake. Faith’s laugh is musical when she spins around and faces me. “He likes her.”

I wag a finger at her. “You’re playing with fire, Fizzle.”

She shrugs as she walks back to me. “Wouldn’t be the first time.”

“True,” I agree. “But Havoc isn’t the kid he was before you left.”

She walks her fingers up my jersey. Traces them along the line of my jaw. “All the more reason I want to help him, Jester. He’s been living in a state of misery for twenty-five years. It’s time he had happiness. If I need to get burned to help my friend, I’m willing to take the risk.”

Actually, I’ll be the one who takes the heat because I won’t let Havoc hurt her. I won’t letanyonehurt her.

“Fine,” I say with a sigh. “But only because I can’t say no to you.”

Her fingers continue their slow torment when she buries them in my hair. Tickles the nape of my neck. “You can’t?” I almost lose her whispered question in the whine of the engines screaming behind us.

“Hell no, I can’t.”

She gets in real close. Until her lips tease over mine. “Fuck me. Now. Here. In Sanctum.”

I narrow my eyes and smile against her mouth. “You want to get dirty, Fizzle?”

“No, Jester. I want to get filthy.”

I grab a fistful of her hair and tilt her head. Press my mouth to her ear. “Go inside. Wait for me in the last bedroom on the left.”
