“See you around, Wyatt,” Grant called.
Wyatt answered him with a wave before ducking back into the house. Adam sighed, neck feeling tense.
“Did you know he was coming?” Grant asked.
“Nope.” Adam hopped off the deck and joined Grant at the fence. “I haven’t even talked to him for weeks, but the last time I did, I told him he should get out of the city for a bit.”
“What changed his mind?”
“His ex is seeing someone else.”
Grant twisted his mouth into something that looked like a scowl. “How long have they been separated for?”
“Less than three months,” he answered. “The divorce isn’t even final yet.”
“And he’s staying with you?”
“Apparently.”
“That’s going to put a very not literal kink into your very active sex life.” Grant laughed at him and rolled his eyes.
“Speaking of, I should go find Cooper. He went to check the sheets on the guest bed to give me and Wyatt some time to talk.” Adam glanced at the door, but couldn’t see anyone inside.
“Before you ask, the answer is no.”
“What was the question?” Adam arched his brow.
“If you could use my house to fuck.”
“Oh, God.” Adam reached over the fence and shoved Grant hard in the chest. “We can just go to Cooper’s house. It’s not like we’re kids in high school.”
“He has a better setup anyway, if I remember right.”
“You do.” Adam grinned.
“Things have been good, though?” Grant asked, taking a step back. “With the two of you?”
“Yeah. Things have been good. Things have been great, honestly. Even better than the first time.”
“I’m happy for you both,” Grant said, taking another step back toward his house. “You both deserve it. But hey, Adam?”
“Hmn?”
“If you think I didn’t hear…and see…the two of you fucking under the tree last month, you’d be pretty wrong.”
Chapter16
Cooper
Two days later, Cooper watched while Adam got dressed for work. The man knew how to fill out a pair of slacks, that was for sure. Cooper settled his glasses on the bridge of his nose, offering Adam a low and sleep-addled cat call.
Adam turned, adjusting the knot on his tie. He went to where Cooper lay in the bed and kissed him on the forehead.
“Thank you for staying this weekend,” Adam said.
“Thank you for letting me stay.”
“Why wouldn’t I let you?”
