“Oh, my God.” He shoved Grant so hard, he fell onto the arm of the couch, laughing loudly at him. Adam stood and rolled his eyes, stalking into the kitchen to get a beer out of the fridge. He didn’t offer Grant one because his best friend was a prick and could get his own.

He sat back down on the couch and took a long pull from the beer, waiting for Grant to settle from his unplanned fit of laughter.

“I struggle with that part, if you must know.” He glared at his best friend. “Some of the other stuff is what I enjoy.”

“But you don’t want to talk about it.”

“I do, but I don’t.”

“If it’s any consolation...” Grant had the mind to school his features into something decent even though his face remained red as a beet. “I don’t think it’s as embarrassing as you think it is. And if you do want to talk about any of this, I am here for you.”

“I know you are.” He sighed. “You always have been, and I really value your friendship.”

“That’s very greeting card of you.”

“I love how you create a really poignant and emotional moment and then ruin it.”

At that, Grant swallowed, licking his lips like Adam’s comment had injured him.

“Hey. I’m just playing with you.”

Grant cleared his throat and smiled, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I know. I know.”

“I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.”

Grant scoffed at him. “You’re reading too much into things. I just want you to know that I’m here for all the gory details about your future rug burn.”

“Is that what you think we do?” He barked out a laugh.

“I don’t know, because you don’t tell me. I just assume you’re on your knees and serving him grapes or something.” Grant waved dismissively. “Fanning him with palm fronds.”

“Is that what you make your subs do?”

“It’s been so long since I had one, I wouldn’t even know where to begin.”

“Do you and Robin not…?” he trailed off.

“It’s not as serious as that. Robin and I are friends who are exceedingly good at making each other come.”

“Doesn’t that sort of go hand in hand with him submitting to you?” Adam asked.

“It is possible for me to get hard in a non-kink situation, you know?”

“But a bonus,” he protested.

Grant furrowed his brow. “I’m starting to think you have a really narrow view of your sex life, my friend. Like, I think you have very cut-and-paste ideas of how to enjoy sex.”

Adam recoiled, appalled at the idea. “No, I don’t.”

Grant twisted his expression, making it very clear that he didn’t believe him. Adam rolled the accusation around in his head before deciding that Grant was wrong.

“I don’t,” he reiterated.

“Okay.”

“You don’t believe me,” he said.

“Nope.”
