“That’s a name,” Levi said.
“Look who’s talking,” James muttered. “Levi Yitzchak Kadish.”
“You still can’t say it right.”
“I can say Yiorgos.”
“Kind of.” Leonidas chuckled and held his hand out, tilting it left to right. “Not bad for a first try.”
“Whatever.” James rolled his eyes and took a drink of his wine. “I’ll figure it out.”
“I know,” Andy said, his heart swelling with love for his brother; for all of his brothers, for their partners, for this home they had created separate of the home he’d always known. Because home was people, not a place, and wherever they were, wherever Leonidas was, that would be his home.
A sharp trilling out echoed from the end of the table, and Charlie gave everyone an apologetic look before reaching into his pocket and pulling out his phone.
“He wasn’t kidding,” Charlie groaned, tapping a button on the screen and holding the phone in front of his face. “What do you want, Cameron?”
“I want to make sure you’re at dinner,” Cameron’s voice said through the speaker. “Turn me around so I can make sure they’re all there.”
Charlie pushed another button on his phone and moved it, spanning the table.
“Who is that with Andy?” Cameron asked. “Who is that? Andrew, who is that?”
“That’s Leo,” Eddie said, resting his head on Charlie’s shoulder. Charlie pushed a button on the screen again.
“Who is Leo?”
“The guy from Paris,” Eddie answered.
“Oh. The Greek guy,” Cameron said.
“How did you know he was Greek?” Andy asked.
“Theo told me.”
“How did…” Andy trailed off and bit the inside of his cheek. “You know what? Never mind.”
To his right, James sputtered a small laugh, then covered his mouth with his hand. Levi leveled a judgmental look at him, which just had James laughing harder.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. It’s just…” He waved his other hand in the air.
Andy poured a healthy swallow of his wine down his throat.
“Top me off,” he said to Leonidas, who refilled his glass.
“I’ll gladly top you off again later, if you like,” Leonidas whispered under his breath, leaning close so his words brushed hot and dangerous against Andy’s ear.
“No secrets at the table,” Brad chided.
“Not a secret.” Andy cleared his throat. “Just not for your ears.”
“Secrets don’t make friends,” Theo chirped.
Levi made a noise in the back of his throat, only to be interrupted by Cameron’s voice again.
“I’ll deal with this at Christmas.”
“You know,” James said, “Leo is the baby of his family and he doesn’t act like you.”
