Page 60 of Worth the Risk

“You sat on the floor and let Justin feed you your steak on my patio. Of course we’re talking about it.”

“I’m just new to everything, and I don’t know how it works. I get how it works with the two of them, but where do I fit in?”

“That’s something between the three of you,” Gregory said. “That three-way dynamic is not for me. I don’t have anything against it, but I look for different traits in my partners than Justin did with Micah. My boyf…” he stopped.

Landon wasn’t his boyfriend. Landon wasn’t even his proper submissive, was he? They hadn’t talked about titles or anything. Everything between them just seemed to happen, and it didn’t need discussing, but Gregory didn’t know what to call Landon.

“Anyway, the man I’m involved with. He is a submissive to the core. More like you than like Micah. He’s not as quiet as you are, but he submits naturally, if that makes sense?”

“Yeah.” Gregory could almost hear Keith nodding through the phone. “I don’t know how to be any other way.”

“Landon doesn’t either. And I like that. Micah, though, I feel like Micah could sometimes go either way. So, maybe having you around lets him play with those alpha tendencies while still submitting to Justin. I mean, is that what it was like when you were over there last weekend?”

Gregory walked into the lobby of his office building and took a seat in one of the leather chairs.

“Yeah, there was this one time when Micah said…”

“Nope,” Gregory cut him off. “I am not trying to hear about what happens behind closed doors.”

“Sorry,” Keith was quick to reply.

“It’s fine, Keith. You’re okay.” He ran a hand through his hair. “Look, I don’t know much about whatever you three have going on, and that’s fine. I know you’re new to all this, but communication is fucking imperative. You need to have these conversations with Justin and Micah. It doesn’t matter that Justin is dominant. If you can’t communicate your needs and questions at this stage of your relationship, it’s not going to work.”

“That makes sense.”

“Look, I gotta head back into the office, but Aaron and I are going to Rapture tomorrow night. Why don’t you see what Justin and Micah are up to, and the three of you can meet us there.”

“Okay,” Keith said, his voice vibrating with that meek concern again.

“Talk to them first though,” Gregory warned. “About this. Don’t get in over your head."

“Alright.”

“I mean it, Keith. Make sure it’s worth the risk, okay? Don’t get involved with them unless it’s something you’d be willing to fight for.” Gregory stood up and walked across the lobby to the elevator bank and pressed the up button.

“Okay, I understand.”

Gregory was pretty sure Keith was biting his tongue to stop from calling him Sir. He laughed into the receiver.

“Text me if you’re coming. Aaron is meeting me at nine.”

“Thanks, S… Gregory.”

Gregory laughed, his suspicions confirmed.

“Don’t you ever call me Sir, Keith. You’re my friend, not my partner, okay?”

“Okay. Thank you,” Keith said, sounding a little surer of himself than he had before.

The elevator doors opened.

“Gotta go, Keith. Talk soon.”

Gregory ended the call and slid his phone back into his pocket. No one else boarded so Gregory propped himself up in the corner, fiddling with the straw on his lemonade.

If he were to get Landon a collar, would he wear it? Is that what Landon wanted? Just as important, though, what did Gregory want? Did he want to introduce Landon to people as his partner, as his submissive, as a boyfriend?

The doors opened and Gregory walked right into one of his employees, not even noticing anyone was outside the elevator waiting to board. He apologized distractedly then stumbled to his desk, rearranging his afternoon meetings until he could clear his head and figure out just what sort of conversation he needed to have with Landon tomorrow night.
