My head is swirling. Juni. My best friend. I’ve never had sex like that before. Mind-blowing. My dick is hard at the memory of her riding me, her sweet pussy sliding up and down my cock.

I blink a couple of times to unscramble my head. I need to get into business mode.

Lucas is waiting at the table of an upmarket French-style brasserie, the kind with silver coffee pots and huge piles of pastries in wicker baskets.

He stands up to shake my hand as I reach the table. “How did you sleep?”

In an unguarded instant, I almost tell him about Juni and I having to share the bed, but stop myself in time. “Great, not the biggest bed in the world, but that wasn’t a problem.”

He laughs. “That kind of problem isn’t a problem when it’s your fiancée with you.”

I smile. Little does he know. After I’m seated and we’re eating, Lucas gets straight to the point.

“I don’t want to rush things, but Natalie and I are due at another expo tonight. The reason I asked you to come here is I want to invest in Langstones. It’s exactly the type of young business I’m looking to get involved in, and your commitment to eco-friendly equipment impressed me. I’ll send my proposal out for you and your brothers to read, then I’ll come meet you all when I’m in Darlinton. Sound good?” He lays his fork on the plate.

I take a big sip of coffee. I can’t believe it. First Juni and now the gym. Everything's coming up roses, as my Mom would have said. I just wish she was here to see it all come good.

I smile. “We are 100 percent on board, Lucas. I can speak for my brothers when I say we’re all excited about the possibilities.”

“Perfect. I hate to eat and run, but I have a train to catch and Natalie will be tapping her watch. I’ll get my secretary to send you all the information. Help yourself to whatever you like here, it’s all paid for. Send my best to Juni and see you soon.” Lucas stands up, shakes my hand again and strides away.

I try calling Juni again, to see if she’d come join me for breakfast, but there’s no answer. I’m starting to worry, so I take a gulp of coffee and head back to the hotel.

Apart from my bag, the room is empty. I text her again.

Juni, where are you?

There’s a buzzing sound from by the bed and I reach my hand under it. It’s Juni’s phone. Was she so keen to get out of here and away from me that she left her phone behind? That’s not like her. She’s so organized. I don’t think she’s ever lost her phone in the whole time I’ve known her. In fact, she’s the one who’s sorted things out when I’ve lost my keys or misplaced my cell.

For a second, I’m frozen in place, wondering what to do. She has to have gone back to Darlinton. But how am I going to reach her when her cell is right here with me?

I grab my bag and check out, then jump in the car. There’s a faint scent of Juni’s vanilla perfume in the air and it makes me long for her. We’ve gone past the point of friendship and I want to let her know it’s not a one time deal.

Is that what she’s worried about? Maybe she thinks this was a one night stand?

Shit.

I get through the drive back home by singing tunelessly along to the radio. Juni has a great voice. All the wonderful things about her start crowding into my mind. The effortless way she dances. How caring she is, not only with people she knows, but with everyone. Her smile, lighting up the room. Her baking efforts, which always end in disaster, but she keeps on trying. I grin, remembering trying to eat one of her rock hard chocolate chip cookies.

I drive straight to the gym, in case she’s there.

Theo is at the reception desk. He looks up as I walk in.

“Hey cuz, how was the expo?” He runs his hand through his hair. He looks tired.

“Good. Great in fact. Our designs went down really well. We’re going to get investment from Lucas Slate.” I put my hands on the desk.

“Fantastic! Why are you not punching the air and whooping?” He raises his eyebrows.

“Has Juni been back?” I ask.

“No, I thought she was with you? Is everything ok?” He starts typing some client details into the laptop.

“We sort of… I have her cell here. If she comes in, will you tell her I’m looking for her?” I turn around and head back to the car. I want to tell Theo more, since I know he’s going through his own relationship troubles, but I don’t want to betray Juni’s confidence.

I need to find her and clear this all up.

Now.
