I was beaming.
“Thank you, sir. Thank you very much,” I said. We shook hands and I left his office feeling like we’d just truly won. It was everything I’d wanted for such a long time, and now the people that I loved the most were all safe.
I made my way straight to the Blue Dog with the biggest smile on my face, where everyone was gathered, waiting patiently for the news. As I entered, Moves jumped to his feet, and everyone else turned to me with anxious and inquisitive expressions. I stopped and nodded my head, giving them a big smile and pumping my fist in the air.
“It’s done. We did it. The DA is going down, and Las Balas won’t be bothering any of you anymore,” I said, and I squealed as Moves ran to me, swung me up into his arms, and spun me around, laughing in triumph.
It was the happiest we’d ever been, and we could finally rejoice as one. It was a moment that I was going to remember for the rest of my life, and Moves took me home that evening to make love to me like he never had before.
It filled me with the kind of pleasure and contentment that I had been fighting to understand the first time we’d slept together, on the beach. Now he was mine, and I was his. We had the entire world at our fingertips, and I couldn’t wait to see what adventures we were going to find ourselves in next. We had everything we could ever ask for, but I knew this wouldn’t be the end of trouble for us.
Moves and I had to enjoy the calm waters while we could, because I could only imagine that when one enemy gets put away, another one will eventually take their place.
That is a problem for another day, but for right now I just want to be here with Moves, enjoy this moment, and remember how long we’ve truly wanted this.
Epilogue:Lacey
It waslike I’d finally gotten my happy ending. Everything I’d wanted from the very first time I stepped foot into the Outlaw Souls’ lives was finally in my grasp. I had fallen in love with a man that had changed me, had made me a better woman, and I promised him that I would do everything in my power to make sure that everyone around us both were safe.
I had my best friend back, enjoying her time exploring her relationship with Hawk, and we all got together as often as we could to enjoy our time together now that we had no trouble or enemies to deal with. I knew that when it came to getting involved with the Outlaw Souls, that my journey would be far from over, because there was truly never going to be a dull moment again, but I was ready for whatever we had to face next.
I was sure about my capabilities now, and I knew where my priorities were, so that was why I decided to follow the dreams I’d had from the very beginning. I resigned from the DA’s office after he got arrested, and since Richard had taken his place, I knew that the city of La Playa was once again in good hands. I wasn’t going to be able to protect the people I loved from behind those four walls, and so I turned in my resignation and became a criminal defense attorney that worked for the Outlaw Souls.
I promised each and every member of the Outlaw Souls that I would stop at nothing to get them the justice they deserved, especially if a situation like this ever arose again. It felt good to know that the real criminals were behind bars, that the man who once had an immense amount of power was now behind bars, and that was a victory in itself.
Las Balas was under investigation by the LPPD, and we watched in triumph as they were snatched up, one after the other, so they could serve the jail time they desperately needed to. As for their leader, he was dead, and while that was a victory for now, I could only imagine that someone was eventually going to take his place. That was how it worked in the minds of criminals, and there was always going to be someone around to threaten the people who were just trying to carry on with their lives.
At least this time, I was there to protect them all, to make sure that they had everything they needed to stand tall, to put forth a united front, and exist as one.
Just a few months ago, I never thought I would have this much happiness in my life, or this much purpose. I felt good going to work every day knowing that I was protecting the very people who had done everything in their power to keep me safe. That gave me the kind of comfort that anyone in my position would want, and I knew that the Outlaw Souls had my back.
As for Moves and I, we were finally ready to take the next step in our relationship. I brought out something in him that even I didn’t realize, and it wasn’t until he told me the story of his childhood that I understood why he’d been so cold and distant at one point. I knew that he must’ve seen quite a lot in his times with the Outlaw Souls, and he was dealing with the kind of trauma that anyone would have trouble getting past, but I was so proud of him. No matter how torn up he was, no matter how many people challenged his authority, he always made sure to stay true to who he was. I told him that there would be time to fix the relationships that had suffered because of his role in the Outlaw Souls, and it wasn’t too late to find the middle ground he’d always wanted.
I sat on the back of his bike with my arms tightly wrapped around his torso remembering how I had felt the very first time he’d taken me for a ride. We were finally on our way to our own happy ending, and I watched while Moves revved his engine, driving us straight to Las Vegas. I was the one that convinced him it would be a good idea to start smoothing things over with his brother, and while he’d been a little apprehensive at first, I knew there was nothing that he wanted more in the world than to have a relationship with Keith again.
I promised that I was going to be there every step of the way and hold his hand through this tough time the same way he had for me every day for the last few months. We were growing alongside each other, and I could absolutely see myself spending the rest of my life with Moves. He’d taught me everything I needed to know about staying strong and about persevering despite how difficult things might get along the way, and I would always be grateful to him for that.
It might have been the end of one chapter, but we were just about to embark on a journey that was going to dictate the rest of our lives, and I couldn’t have thought of a better way than to finally elope together. I loved Moves more than I’d ever loved anyone in my entire life, and I knew that we were going to do incredible things together.
This is just the beginning for us, Moves, and I know that no matter what life throws at us, we’re always going to get through it, because we have each other’s backs. You showed me that I could truly have everything I’ve ever wanted, and I will spend the rest of my life showing you that I will always be by your side.
You’ve quickly become everything I could ever ask for, and I’m never going to let go of that. I have you to thank for being the reason I followed my dreams, and I know we have a long way to go from here. I love you, Moves, and I always will.
