“Not like that,” Graham hastily added. “Just as friends. There’s a guy she’s seeing, and she wanted my opinion on something he said.”

“Or she’s trying to make you jealous,” Anker said from farther down the table. “To get you back.”

Jesus, everyone was involved in this fucking conversation.

“She’s not trying to make me jealous,” Graham argued. “Or get me back. Don’t be ridiculous.”

“I mean …” Tanner eyed him up and down. “You’re pretty hot. I’d do you if you were into that. I wouldn’t blame her for trying to get all up in that again.”

“Thanks for the compliment,” Graham said drily as he stood and picked up his lunch dishes. “But I have a meeting with Hoyt in a few. See you losers later.”

He got a chorus of insults and raised middle fingers in answer.

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

An hour later, as Graham left the head coach’s office, he was lost in thought. It hadn’t been a bad meeting. Far from it, actually. Hoyt seemed pleased with Graham’s performance so far this season and with the team in general.

Toward the end, he’d asked if anything had changed for him.

Graham had shrugged, not sure how to answer that question without outing himself and his relationship with Thad.

“Well, whatever you’re doing, keep doing it,” Hoyt had said with a slap on the back as they left his office. “I like what I see.”

Now, Graham pulled out his phone, intending to text Thad to see if he was going to come over today after work.

Graham had an interview he was doing, but maybe after …

He let out a startled yelp when he felt a hand close around his upper arm, and someone tugged him through an open door.

The door slammed shut behind him and he clutched at the rack of cleaning products in front of him to steady himself.

A familiar voice said, “You better not be getting back together with your ex,” in his ear.

Graham laughed, relaxing when he realized who had abducted him.

He closed his eyes when Thad dragged his nose along the side of his neck, his breath warm on Graham’s skin.

“I’m not getting back together with Madison,” he protested with a soft laugh, his heart still racing from the unexpected attack. “And Jesus, you scared theshitout of me.”

“Sorry.”

Thad didn’tsoundsorry as he settled his hands on Graham’s hips and pressed close, his body a long line of heat against Graham’s back.

“So what’s with the kidnapping?” he asked, amused. “Trying to stake your claim on me?”

“Missed you,” Thad rumbled.

“And got jealous when you overheard the guys teasing me about Madison?”

“Mmm. Maybe a little.” Thad bit lightly at his neck. “Did she really message you about a guy she’s seeing?”

“Yeah, just wanted my perspective on some stuff.”

“Have you told her about us?”

“No.” Graham frowned at the bright yellow bottle in front of him, wishing he could see Thad’s face. “Why would I? I thought we weren’t telling anyone.”

“She already knows you’re bi or whatever though, doesn’t she?” Thad slid a hand across his stomach, dipping below his hoodie.
