I adore my girl, but forgiveness is not something she gives away lightly.
“You know I’m here when and if you want to talk, right?”
She squeezes my hand back when I reach out. “You always are. I’m just not ready, Vinnie.”
Her voice falters as she says my name, the tremor giving her away.
“How about we find you a dress that turns heads and then treat ourselves at the spa? We’re about to be surrounded by musicians, Ever. You don’t have to do a thing, but if a certain biker happens to see you looking banging with some handsome guys, well, let him eat his heart out.”
Everleigh smirks. “I always look banging, babycakes.”
I laugh, snatching up the dress I chose. “That you do. That you do.”
Hours later, I drop Everleigh off at her place with a promise to see her tomorrow.
As she disappears inside, her shoulders slumped and her steps heavy, my heart aches for her.
She cared more about Grimm than she did any of the guys she had been with. To know he did something to betray those feelings breaks my heart for her.
When she’s ready, I hope she lets me in, so I can be her support the way she’s always been mine.
Paradox of You

Titanmessagedjustmomentsago that they’re almost here. I snatch up my black clutch, perfectly matched to my dress, and double-check that I have everything I need.
I step in front of the floor-length mirror in my entryway, letting my gaze travel over my reflection and soaking in a rare surge of confidence.
This red silk dress is easily the boldest thing I’ve ever dared to wear to one of these ceremonies.
Spaghetti-thin straps melt into a plunging v-shape just below my chest. Pasties and boob tape are my secret weapons, keeping the dress in place so I don’t end up flashing not just the room, but the whole world watching online.
With every step, the high slits reveal flashes of bare leg and the glint of my gold, strappy four-inch heels winding around my ankles. The back plunges into another v, stopping just above my ass and leaving my back deliciously bare.
I’ve twisted my hair into a messy updo, letting a few rebellious tendrils frame my face.
I run my middle finger over my lips, testing the lipstick’s staying power, and catch my own smirk in the mirror.
Eat your heart out, boys.
Mostly Alek.
That ass can eat his heart out. Hell, I’ll feed the darn thing to him.
Not that he’ll ever catch me looking like an absolute goddess. He’d have to actually care about what matters to me for that to happen.
You know, like my career.
I lock up and perch on the porch, killing time with a scroll through social media. After a few likes and comments, I force myself to close the app before I do something reckless, like unblocking Alek just to lurk.
Nothing good ever comes from that. Just another reminder of how little I meant to him.
A sleek black limo with windows tinted darker than midnight glides up to my curb, and I can’t help but smile, remembering Titan’s promise.
I’m nearing the limo when the back door opens, and Titan climbs out.
My eyes roll over him, taking in his golden-tanned skin covered in a sharp black-and-white tux. A red silk square matching my dress is folded into his jacket pocket.
